- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, mathematics, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, with a focus on C++ and operating systems.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with application design and architecture.
- 3 years of experience with Android application and internals development, including working with AOSP or system-level services.
- Experience in system-level debugging and implementing corrective actions on hardware/software failures.
- Master's degree or PhD in computer science or a related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms, with 2 years of experience with Android on shipped consumer hardware devices.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role, leading Android system integration features and strategizing new feature development.
- Experience building and maintaining developer workflow tools.
- Experience developing accessible technologies and working with Android Kernel, Linux, or Chrome OS.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $166,000-$244,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. - Write and test product or system development code for Android platform system and services to control Beam hardware (e.g., cameras, power, display, USB, and thermal systems).
- Participate in, or lead design reviews to decide amongst available technologies for infrastructure improvements, including startup stability, calibration, and health monitoring.
- Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency) across the Beam OS code base.
- Contribute to existing documentation or educational content for developer workflow tools and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback to support the broader engineering organization.
- Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations.
