Job Title: Senior Software Engineer - Oracle Forms & Reports

Role Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Oracle Forms and Reports Developer who brings a wealth of experience in Oracle D2K, SQL, PL/SQL, and enterprise application development. The successful candidate will demonstrate a proven track record in designing, developing, enhancing, and maintaining robust business applications utilising Oracle Forms (versions 10g/11g/12c/14c) and Oracle Reports. This role requires hands-on expertise in building and optimising database-driven solutions, with the ability to translate complex business requirements into effective technical solutions.
The ideal applicant should be adept at developing and fine-tuning PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views, ensuring efficient and reliable performance. Experience with performance tuning of PL/SQL code and SQL queries is essential. The candidate should also possess solid skills in debugging and troubleshooting application issues across Oracle Forms, Reports, and PL/SQL programmes.
Additionally, the role demands proficiency in migrating and upgrading legacy Oracle Forms/Reports applications to newer platforms (such as 12c/14c), as well as designing and modifying data models, tables, indexes, and other key database objects. Familiarity with integrating Oracle Forms and Reports with external systems (including Java components, web services, and CSV/XML outputs) will be highly valued. Effective collaboration with QA teams, Business Analysts, and other cross-functional stakeholders for system testing and user acceptance testing is also a critical aspect of this position.
What will you do?
- Responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining applications utilizing Oracle Forms (10g/11g/12c/14c) and Oracle Reports.
- Develop and optimize PL/SQL packages, procedures, functions, triggers, and views in alignment with application requirements.
- Analyze business requirements and translate them into comprehensive technical specifications.
- Perform performance tuning of PL/SQL code and SQL queries to ensure optimal efficiency.
- Diagnose and resolve issues within Oracle Forms, Reports, and PL/SQL programs.
- Execute migration and upgrade activities for Oracle Forms/Reports applications to current versions (12c/14c).
- Create and revise data models, tables, indexes, materialized views, and other database objects as needed.
- Integrate Oracle Forms & Reports seamlessly with external systems, including Java components, web services, and CSV/XML outputs.
- Collaborate effectively with QA, Business Analysts, and cross-functional teams to facilitate system testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
- Deliver production support, conduct root cause analysis, and carry out ongoing performance optimization.
What skills required?
- 5+ years of Oracle Forms and Reports development experience
- Advanced skills in Oracle SQL and PL/SQL (triggers, packages, procedures, functions, query optimization)
- Experience with Oracle Database versions 10g to 23ai
- Strong grasp of database design, normalization, and data modeling
- Skilled in debugging and troubleshooting PL/SQL
- Familiar with deployment tools like SQL Developer and TOAD
- Proficient with Unix/Linux scripts and automation
- Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum teams
- Insurance sector experience preferred
- Experience with Premia or Beyontec products an advantage
