What awaits you in this role?

We are looking for an experienced and visionary Senior Customs Audit & Inspection Specialist to lead high-level inspection, compliance, and risk-based audit processes within the scope of customs and international trade. The ideal candidate will play a key role in shaping our digital audit strategy, implementing AI-powered tools, and driving data-centric risk assessment models in line with global trade and compliance standards.

This role is ideal for professionals who combine deep regulatory expertise with a passion for technology, innovation, and strategic oversight.

• Follow up on customs, trade laws, and regulations. Interpret, develop, and implement trade and customs compliance policies,
• Conduct research and analysis about international trade & customs and present findings to relevant stakeholders,
• Analyse foreign trade and the customs regulations, and use the insights that you glean to advise and guide strategic business decisions for the company and its partners,
• Develop networking to form business partnerships, particularly in foreign markets. Understanding how to cultivate and maintain these relationships,
• Perform Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and Import & Export Classification determinations under EU & TR and non-EU regulations,
• Interpretation of customs and trade practices within the framework of international free trade agreements (FTAs),
• Collaborate with all departments to ensure they have implemented effective compliance internal controls into their procedures and work instructions and provide trade compliance training.
• Support the development and implementation of technology-driven customs audit strategies.
• Lead high-impact customs audits and inspections based on risk analysis, regulatory developments, and operational intelligence.
• Oversee the end-to-end inspection lifecycle, including documentation review, physical verification, and post-clearance audits.
• Design and implement technology-driven compliance frameworks in customs control and trade facilitation.
• Spearhead the use of artificial intelligence and machine learning in anomaly detection, fraud prevention, and predictive auditing.
• Collaborate with internal digital transformation units and external solution providers to integrate AI and analytics into core audit functions.
• Interpret and apply complex international trade agreements, customs legislation, WTO/TFA provisions, and global best practices.
• Provide strategic insights to senior management on compliance risks, audit findings, and systemic vulnerabilities.
• Monitor global trends in digital customs, e-audits, and data governance and contribute to policy and system design
• Design and implement audit methodologies that integrate insights from global value chain structures, identifying vulnerabilities, fraud risks, and compliance gaps at different stages of the supply chain

The position is located in Istanbul, Türkiye.

How do we describe the perfect match?

• • 7+ years of International Logistics and Distribution experience dealing with customs, freight forwarders and import/export transactions,
  • 5+ years of experience with export and/or import regulatory compliance,
  • Experience in performing accurate Tariff Classification,
  • Completed or working toward Customs Brokerage License,
  • 10+ years of combination of education and experience in logistics, distribution and trade compliance.
  • Proven experience in leveraging data analysis and digital tools to drive compliance, risk assessment, and process optimisation.
