Description
We are seeking a Senior Specialist, Strategic Sourcing to play a critical role in shaping and executing the procurement strategy for a rapidly scaling residential solar provider. This position serves as a key owner of supplier relationships and sourcing execution, with direct responsibility for vendor performance, commercial alignment, and supply chain readiness across high-volume project delivery.
This role acts as a strategic partner to Operations, Fulfillment, Planning & Logistics, and Finance, ensuring materials are sourced competitively, delivered reliably, and aligned with forecasted growth. The Senior Specialist will actively influence supplier strategy, mitigate supply chain risk, and support long term cost and performance optimization initiatives. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong commercial judgment and supplier leadership, with the ability to independently manage complex vendor ecosystems while partnering closely with Strategic Sourcing leadership on category and growth strategy. This is a full-time, in-person role based in our downtown San Francisco office.

Own and lead strategic supplier relationships, including vendor onboarding, qualification, compliance coordination, and ongoing commercial and operational engagement

Serve as the primary point of accountability for suppliers, managing day-to-day communication, issue resolution, and continuity of service across projects

Support and drive supplier contracting and commercial alignment, including MSAs, pricing schedules, amendments, and tracking of key commercial terms and milestones in partnership with Strategic Sourcing leadership and Legal

Lead vendor performance management, including KPI development, scorecarding, Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs), action item tracking, and continuous improvement initiatives

Execute and oversee procurement operational tasks, including requisitions, purchase orders, and supplier coordination, ensuring compliance with approved vendors, pricing, and sourcing strategies

Coordinate supply chain execution, including inventory tracking, logistics coordination, shipment visibility, and delivery issue resolution to ensure material readiness

Align purchasing and delivery activity with project forecasts, installation schedules, and inventory targets, supporting reliable and on-time project execution

Partner cross-functionally with Operations, Fulfillment, Planning & Logistics, and Finance to coordinate supplier initiatives, resolve constraints, and support scalable growth

Identify, communicate, and escalate supplier-related risks, constraints, and opportunities, providing leadership with visibility into supply, cost, and performance impacts

Contribute to and support long-term procurement and sourcing strategies aligned with company growth, cost optimization, and operational excellence objectives

Lead special projects and process-improvement initiatives related to supplier optimization, sourcing scalability, and procurement.

5–7 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, vendor management, or operations, within renewables, energy, construction, or infrastructure

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline

Demonstrated experience owning external supplier relationships, including commercial discussions and negotiation support

Strong executive-level written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence suppliers and internal stakeholders

Proven ability to manage multiple vendors, contracts, and operational priorities simultaneously

Advanced proficiency in Excel for pricing analysis, vendor performance tracking, and supply-chain reporting

Comfort operating in a fast-paced, growth-oriented environment requiring sound judgment and autonomy

Ability to travel occasionally (<10%)

Experience working with ERP and procurement platforms (Oracle NetSuite, SAP Ariba, Coupa, Salesforce, or similar)

Experience supporting supplier onboarding programs, sourcing events, or vendor performance frameworks

Working knowledge of commercial contracts, including MSAs, pricing exhibits, SLAs, and volume commitments

Exposure to inventory management, warehousing, 3PL coordination, or logistics operations

Experience within solar, electrical equipment, construction materials, or distributed energy supply chains highly preferred

Interest in advancing into Strategic Sourcing, Procurement Management, or Supplier Strategy leadership

Strong interpersonal skills and a relationship-driven approach to supplier engagement

The salary range is required by the California Pay Transparency Act and may differ depending on the location of those candidates hired nationwide.
