Job Summary

UST is looking for a talented Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to help design, build, and operate modern cloud environments as we re-platform our traditional on-premise application stack to a scalable, cloud-native architecture.

The SRE will play a critical role in defining standards, automation, and processes that enable engineering teams to deliver features rapidly, reliably, and securely. This role will act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for application development teams, influencing application design and promoting best practices for continuous delivery, reliability, and scalability in the cloud.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as a contributing member of the DevOps/SRE team, driving development, deployment, and support of CI/CD pipelines to enable a microservices and SOA-based cloud architecture.

  • Design, build, and operate cloud-native platforms across public, private, and hybrid cloud environments.

  • Provision and manage Kubernetes / OpenShift clusters, including namespaces, pipelines, deployments, and lifecycle management of containerized applications.

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve source code management, build, release, and deployment systems.

  • Create and maintain automated pipelines, scripts, and processes to support cloud infrastructure and application deployments.

  • Collaborate closely with Product Management, Architecture, Software Engineering, and Infrastructure teams to operationalize DevOps and SRE practices.

  • Influence application and platform design decisions for SOA and microservices-based systems on cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.

  • Provide guidance, coaching, and mentoring to development teams on continuous delivery and reliability best practices.

  • Champion Agile, DevOps, and continuous improvement culture across teams.

  • Participate in incident management, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis for infrastructure and application issues.

  • Ensure seamless transition from development to production operationalization.

  • Support monitoring, logging, observability, and reliability initiatives to meet availability and performance goals.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • 8+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps / SRE roles, including leadership responsibilities.

  • Strong experience with AWS or Azure (Azure migration experience is a plus).

  • Hands-on expertise with Docker, Kubernetes, and/or OpenShift, supporting microservices-based applications.

  • Extensive experience with DevOps tools and technologies, including:

  • Solid understanding of networking concepts (DNS, NAT, routing, firewalls).

  • Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, capable of working with teams of varying technical expertise.

  • Experience supporting Agile and product development teams.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Exposure to Helm, Checkmarx, New Relic.

  • Experience with logging and monitoring tools, such as:

    • Splunk, Grafana, AppDynamics, Logstash
