Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Staff Accountant (Full-Charge) to join our dynamic team. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to lead comprehensive accounting functions, ensure regulatory compliance, and contribute to the financial integrity of our organization. As a full-charge accountant, you will independently manage the entire accounting cycle, prepare financial statements, and support strategic financial planning. Your expertise will help drive accurate reporting and streamline processes for a firm of 50+ employees.
Duties
- Maintain and prepare the general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliation, and month-end closing procedures.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining accurate records.
- Conduct bank reconciliations, cash flow analysis, and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure data accuracy.
- Support internal controls compliance, including SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) requirements, and assist with audits and regulatory reporting.
- Utilize accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, or similar platforms to maintain precise financial data.
- Educate team members on technical accounting concepts, financial report writing, and best practices in bookkeeping and financial management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 10+ years of accounting experience, preferrably in small to mid-size companies.
- Extensive experience in corporate accounting with a strong understanding of GAAP and accrual accounting principles.

- Expertise in financial statement preparation, account reconciliation, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping.
- Familiarity with SOX compliance standards and experience working within non-profit and governmental accounting environments is highly desirable.
- Previous experience in waste management, sanitation, or similar hands-on operational environments preferred, but not required.
- Experience in operations-heavy or service-based businesses.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as PeopleSoft, Sage, Xero, QuickBooks, Quicken or similar platforms; advanced skills in Microsoft Excel are essential.
- Knowledge of securities law, Wills/trusts & estate law, tax regulations, and regulatory reporting requirements is a plus.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and produce clear reports for management decision-making.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $95,000.00 per year
