Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Structural / Civil Engineer with minimum 15 years experience to oversee and supervise all structural and civil engineering activities at the construction site. The role involves ensuring that all works are executed in compliance with approved design documents, contract specifications, authority regulations, and international standards.
The successful candidate will act as the site-based technical representative of the consultant and will be responsible for quality assurance, technical coordination, progress monitoring, and resolution of site-related engineering issues.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct daily site inspections for structural and civil works, including concrete works, steel structures, foundation systems, retaining structures, waterproofing, and precast installations.
- Monitor contractor execution to ensure compliance with approved shop drawings, IFC drawings, specifications, and method statements.
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, samples, RFIs, and method statements related to structural and civil disciplines.
- Coordinate closely with Resident Engineers, architectural teams, MEP engineers, and HSE personnel to ensure smooth and conflict-free project execution.
- Identify quality concerns and issue/follow up on NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports) and SORs (Site Observation Reports).
- Attend coordination meetings, technical discussions, and workshops with contractors and subcontractors.
- Support authority inspections by ensuring site readiness and compliance with required documentation.
- Monitor construction progress, workmanship quality, and contractor performance against project schedules.
- Supervise structural testing activities such as slump tests, concrete cube tests, and reinforcement testing in accordance with project quality plans and ITP requirements.
- Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and pre-handover inspections during project closeout stages.
- Evaluate and address DLP (Defects Liability Period) related issues post-handover and provide technical recommendations for rectification.
- Assist in reviewing contractor monthly valuations and verify actual site progress for structural works.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Proven experience in construction supervision and site execution for large-scale projects.
- Strong knowledge of structural engineering practices, construction methodologies, and quality standards.
- Familiarity with authority regulations, international standards, and construction codes.
- Excellent coordination, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple site activities and work effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
