These experiences span physical, digital, and audiovisual realms.

The engineer will combine traditional systems engineering (networking,

servers, databases, etc.) with deep familiarity in interactive and immersive technologies (projection systems, spatial audio, sensors, etc.) to help bring these complex environments to life.

This role requires cross-disciplinary thinking, creative problem-solving, and technical fluency to

support both development and operational deployment of scalable, resilient, and interactive

experiences.

Core Responsibilities:

Experience Development and Design:

  • Architect backend infrastructure for digital systems used in public-facing attractions, including server environments, databases, APIs, and user authentication services. ·
  • Design and implement systems that support interactive installations involving multimedia playback, spatial audio, tracking systems, and environmental sensors. ·
  • Develop integration strategies that ensure seamless performance across hardware (e.g., projectors, media servers) and software (e.g., game engines, control systems).

Technology Research and Audience Experience Behavior:

  • Investigate emerging technologies relevant to immersive experiences, including real-time media processing, IoT device orchestration, and audience interaction analytics. ·
  • Evaluate and prototype new systems that enable intuitive and emotionally engaging audience experiences through innovative use of technology. ·
  • Stay abreast of trends in experience design, including gamification frameworks, user behavior data collection, and dynamic content systems.

Collaboration and Brand Alignment:

  • Work with creative, design, and content teams to ensure systems engineering solutions support artistic and narrative intent. ·
  • Translate creative briefs into technical strategies that preserve the integrity of brand identity and audience impact.
  • Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and installation teams to ensure systems are aligned with client expectations and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities: General Management

Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and refine internal documentation, templates, and best practices for immersive system architecture and deployment.
  • Establish and maintain system monitoring, performance benchmarking, and incident response strategies.
  • Foster a culture of learning and iterative development through post-mortems, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.

Change Management

  • Support structured rollouts of software updates, hardware upgrades, and system migrations within active installations or during development.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to ongoing operations during integration of new technologies or feature sets.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and contingency planning during change events.

Budget & Plans

  • Provide technical input during the budgeting process to scope infrastructure and technology-related costs.
  • Assist in vendor selection, procurement, and cost-benefit analyses of technologies under consideration.
  • Track hardware and software inventories, licensing, and support contracts.

Quality, Health, Safety, & Environment (QHSSE)

  • Design systems to operate reliably in high-footfall, public environments, adhering to relevant safety and quality standards.
  • Ensure system installations comply with applicable electrical, network, and physical safety regulations.
  • Promote environmentally sustainable solutions where applicable, such as energy-efficient equipment or remote monitoring systems to reduce travel needs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.

Years & Nature of Experience

  • Minimum 6–8 years of professional experience in systems engineering, IT infrastructure, or AV integration.
  • At least 2 years of experience working on immersive or interactive projects involving AV or experiential media.

Technical Competencies

  • Strong understanding of server infrastructure (Windows/Linux), virtual machines, cloud platforms (AWS/Azure), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with audio-visual control systems (e.g., Q-SYS, Crestron), projection systems, media servers (e.g., Watchout, Disguise, Resolume).
  • Proficient in scripting or programming languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell, Bash) for automation and deployment.
  • Familiarity with networking protocols, firewall rules, VPNs, and remote access tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system environments and propose scalable, resilient solutions.

Behavioural competencies

  • Creative, adaptable thinker with a passion for immersive technology and audience engagement. Excellent communicator able to translate technical challenges into actionable solutions for cross-functional teams.
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a strong sense of ownership and accountability.
