Senior Systems Engineer
Ready to shape resilient, secure and high-performing IT infrastructure in a technically demanding environment? This is a senior opportunity for an accomplished Systems Engineer II who enjoys solving complex infrastructure challenges, influencing technical direction and improving platforms across cloud, datacentre and on-premises environments.
Purpose & Scope of the Role
As Senior Systems Engineer II, you will play a pivotal role in designing, optimising and governing critical infrastructure across datacentre, cloud and hybrid environments. You will help define technical direction, improve operational maturity, and ensure platforms remain secure, reliable and cost-effective. This role combines strategic oversight with deep technical delivery, supporting infrastructure architecture, automation, incident response, compliance, documentation, operational handover and project execution.
Your Impact in this position
You will influence the stability, performance and future shape of core IT services. Working closely with technical teams, vendors and stakeholders, you will identify opportunities to modernise systems, reduce manual effort, strengthen governance and improve service resilience. Your expertise will help ensure infrastructure decisions are aligned to business priorities, security expectations, operational standards and long-term value.

Skills, Qualifications and Experience
You will bring substantial senior-level experience in systems administration, infrastructure engineering or a similar technical role, ideally supported by a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or equivalent practical experience.

Working Environment
The position is based on a hybrid model, mainly working from home but with monthly visits to an office or fully hybrid if preferred. Our datacentre is in Slough and attendance in the centre will be required (likely monthly). Remote and flexible working may be available depending on location and operational requirements.
