Job Summary
Taxonomic is seeking an experienced Senior Tax Staff / Tax Preparer to join our team. This role is responsible for preparing and reviewing a wide range of tax returns, supporting client relationships, and assisting in the development of junior staff.
Our firm works with individuals, closely held businesses, and high-net-worth clients, providing both tax compliance and planning services.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, review, and analyze federal, state, and local tax returns for individuals, corporations, partnerships, estates, and trusts with accuracy and efficiency.
- Conduct detailed tax research on complex issues such as estate planning, securities law, Mergers & Acquisitions, and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Assist clients with tax planning strategies to minimize liabilities while ensuring compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and other regulatory standards.
- Support audit processes by providing necessary documentation and explanations related to tax positions taken on returns.
- Review tax returns prepared by staff and provide detailed feedback.
- Work directly with clients to gather information and address tax matters.
- Prepare and review quarterly estimated tax calculations.
- Respond to IRS and state notices and support audit requests.
- Utilize advanced accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Lacerte, ProSeries, CCH or similar platforms and software tools.
- Perform detailed account reconciliation tasks including account analysis, and balance sheet reconciliation to ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Conduct tax research and document conclusions.
- Manage multiple client engagements and meet deadlines.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior staff.
- Support internal process improvements.
- Engage in continuous professional development by staying current on changes in tax laws, securities law updates, and industry best practices related to public accounting and private equity.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field; CPA or equivalent certification preferred.
- 3–6+ years of public accounting experience in tax.
- Proven experience in tax preparation with a strong understanding of tax accounting principles, including double entry bookkeeping and financial analysis.
- Extensive knowledge of individual and corporate tax accounting, and regulatory reporting standards.
- Familiarity with accounting and tax software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, Lacerte, ProSeries, CCH or similar platforms; proficiency in financial and tax software is required.
- Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and prepare detailed reports.
- Experience working within public accounting firms or corporate finance departments is preferred.
- Demonstrated understanding of GAAP standards along with technical expertise in auditing procedures and financial statement preparation.
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail; ability to manage multiple deadlines efficiently.
- Strong communication skills for client interaction as well as collaboration within teams on technical accounting and tax issues.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
