Job Description

Job Summary We are looking for a 'Senior Technical Artist' to act as a bridge between the creative art team and the engineering team, ensuring our games achieve both technical performance and artistic excellence. This role requires a seasoned professional who can lead pipeline development, mentor junior artists, and implement innovative solutions to push visual quality without compromising performance across platforms. Key Responsibilities: 1. Pipeline & Tools Design, implement, and maintain efficient asset pipelines for both 2D and 3D production. Develop custom tools, scripts, and shaders to streamline workflows and improve efficiency. Ensure seamless integration of art assets into the game engine (Unity, Unreal, or proprietary). 2. Asset Optimization & Performance Optimize 2D and 3D assets (sprites, textures, models, rigs, animations, VFX) for real-time rendering on multiple platforms (PC, console, mobile, VR/AR). Establish performance budgets and enforce best practices for memory, draw calls, and frame rate stability. 3. Collaboration & Leadership Work closely with designers, engineers, and artists to balance visual fidelity with technical constraints. Mentor and support junior technical artists and provide guidance on best practices. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical/artistic issues across the production pipeline. 4. Visual Development Create and maintain shaders, materials, and procedural systems to achieve stylized or realistic looks. Support 2D & 3D workflows such as UI, sprite animation, VFX sheets, 3D pipelines etc. Contribute to prototyping and R&D for new rendering and artistic features. Required Skills & Qualifications: 6+ years of experience as a Technical Artist in game development (2D and 3D). Advanced proficiency in game engines (Unreal Engine, Unity). Strong knowledge of 3D tools (Maya, Blender, Houdini, 3ds Max) and 2D tools (Photoshop, Spine, After Effects, Illustrator). Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, C#, HLSL/GLSL, MEL). Deep understanding of real-time rendering, lighting, shading, and VFX pipelines. Experience with optimization techniques for mobile, console, and VR/AR platforms. Solid grasp of rigging, skinning, animation systems, and procedural workflows. Excellent problem-solving skills and cross-disciplinary communication. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading technical art teams or mentoring junior artists. Familiarity with procedural content generation (Substance Designer, Houdini). Knowledge of UI/UX integration in game engines. Experience with version control (Git, Perforce). Prior contributions to shipped AAA / mobile titles.
