Senior Technical Business Analyst - Remote

About the Role:

As a Business Analyst at KL&A, you’re at the core of where technology and business needs intersect. Collaborating closely with clients, project managers, and software engineers, your role is instrumental in the creation, enhancement, and support of custom web applications. Agile is the underlying foundation to our approach, and within this framework, you’ll navigate through missions such as process re-engineering, and bugs, and ensure the spotlight remains on data organization and user outcome. Your role is multifaceted; you will wear many hats such as:

  • Tech-Business Liaison: Effectively communicate how tech solutions meet business needs, refining requirements through JAD sessions
  • Collaborative Team Member: Work closely with clients and internal development teams to build web applications.
  • Domain Expert: Become the subject matter expert and a trusted resource for your client
  • Testing Support: Validate feature specifications

Requirements

Superpowers We’re Seeking

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or higher
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without a current or future need for visa sponsorship
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, Technical Analyst, or Systems Analyst building web applications for external clients

Systems and Business Process Analysis:

  • Experience developing a strong understanding of client business processes to ensure system workflows, data validation, and business rules are implemented accurately throughout the SDLC Understanding of business analysis best practices, and how business needs drive the implementation approach to solutions
  • Experience facilitating structured stakeholder discussions (such as JAD sessions) to elicit or clarify requirements, resolve gaps, and confirm system functionality.

Documentation and Writing:

  • Experience analyzing requirements and developing user stories, acceptance criteria, and test scenarios
  • Excellent writing skills, including the ability to produce clear user guides and technical or functional documentation for complex systems and processes.
  • Experience producing project artifacts such as meeting notes, mockups, wireframes, process maps, and data flow diagrams to communicate system functionality to stakeholders and development teams.

Communication and Client Management:

  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate effective communication and collaboration between development teams and non-technical client stakeholders. Experience collaborating with the development team(s) to design and develop functional solutions that meet client needs
  • Experience building relationships with internal and external stakeholders by acting as a trusted advisor and liaison
  • Self-motivated, resourceful, and adaptable, with the ability to work effectively and independently in a remote-first environment
  • Ability to communicate complex system concepts and implementation decisions clearly to non-technical stakeholders

Technical Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of how data is structured and used within applications, including experience analyzing data to validate system behavior and business rules.
  • Review and validate documented requirements to ensure workflows, data validation rules, and exception handling accurately reflecting client processes.

Gadgets and Gizmos:

  • Experience using tools (such as Jira, Confluence, or similar) to document and trace requirements through the software development life cycle
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Visio

Bonus Superpowers

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Excel advanced features such as macros and/or relational database software
  • Experience writing SQL queries
  • Previous software development experience
  • Experience ensuring the backlog is properly managed to maintain appropriate development velocity
  • Previous experience triaging bugs

Work Environment

Since the COVID-19 pandemic forced most of us to work remotely, KL&A has embraced the new flexible scheduling that was one of the microscopic lights at the end of the isolated tunnel. As a result, we are conducting all interviews virtually (get your Teams background ready.) New employees can be onboarded into a virtual, in-person, or hybrid work schedule and are provided with the tools they need to begin employment successfully, regardless of location.
