Introduction:

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at The Aga Khan University is a dynamic academic which serves the diagnostic needs of the country through its clinical laboratory services that spreads across Pakistan. AKUH’s Clinical Laboratory is College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited and caters to the need of the entire country through its tertiary lab at the main campus and 300+ specimen collection units and 13 stat labs across Pakistan.

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine consists of five major sections namely Chemical Pathology & Transfusion Medicine, Histopathology, Microbiology, and Molecular Pathology. Each section is academically driven and is highly engaged in research and undergraduate, postgraduate teaching and training.

Responsibilities:

You will be responsible to:

• Perform complex clinical tests independently according to the procedures manual on a daily basis to ensure timely preparation of the final reports
• Assist in teaching / training of junior staff, student and trainees according to guidelines provided as and when required
• Follow and assist supervisor in the implementation of safety standards according to Laboratory Safety Manual on daily basis
• Ensure through visual inspection that the junior staff carry out their activities as per the laboratory quality manual on a daily basis
• Process and co-sign reports, including negative reports, of lab tests
• Follow safety standards in accordance to the safety manual on a daily basis to provide a safe working environment.

Requirements:

You should have:

• BS/ MSc in Biological Sciences.
• Three to four years of experience as Technologist at AKU or six to seven years of relevant experience at a hospital or laboratory inclusive of two to three years of administrative experience
• Thorough knowledge of laboratory testing procedures
• Knowledge of latest developments in medical technology field
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to work in shifts.
