As a Senior Toxicologist you will have the opportunity to:
  • Coordinate, plan, manage, and track unit activities for consultation, risk assessment evaluation, expert testimony, and public presentations
  • Manage DTSC regional human health and/or ecological hazard program consultation requests and acts as point of contact to help programs meet annual commitments
  • Supervise a unit of staff and/or associate toxicologists; and manage statewide information and assistance requests pertaining to toxicology, human health risk assessment, environmental ecology, ecological risk assessment and public health risk assessments/impacts
  • Review, provide scientific peer review, and refine staff evaluations of complex sampling and analysis plans and detailed biological effects studies, applying and integrating scientific, toxicological and risk assessment principles to site specific hazardous substance releases
  • Provide guidance to staff in the preparation of more complex assessments and studies to evaluate the human health and/or ecological impacts of hazardous substance releases into the environment to determine what appropriate remedial alternatives or permit conditions are necessary
  • Provide direct risk assessment support for highly complex and/or highly significant site investigations
Desirable Qualifications We Look For:
  • Knowledge or experience in one or more sub-specialities for Toxicology
  • Knowledge or experience in Risk Assessment
  • Experience working on sites with complex conceptual site models
  • Experience in handling a leadership role
  • Experience in management
  • Abiltiy to clearly and effectively communicate in writting

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) is required for the hiring manager’s review. Applications submitted without an SOQ may be disqualified.

The SOQ should be no more than 2 page(s) in length, be clearly written and well-organized, and Arial font, size 12.
