Attorney General Andrea Joy Campbell is looking for a highly motivated attorney who is passionate about public service to join her office as Senior Trial Counsel in the Privacy and Responsible Technology Division (PRTD). The Division, which is part of the Attorney General’s Public Protection and Advocacy Bureau, investigates and litigates cutting-edge issues in emerging innovations. The Division works to address unfair or deceptive use of consumer data, to maintain data security and privacy, and to address technologies that may manipulate consumers, including youth.
Primary Duties : The Senior Trial Counsel will oversee, strategize, and pursue litigation and investigations surrounding data security, data privacy, and online or digital abuses, including misrepresentations concerning artificial intelligence or machine learning, and dark patterns that manipulate or exploit users. Duties will include independently leading investigations and enforcement actions; assisting other AAsG in their investigations and litigation matters; as well as learning new industries and technologies, collaborating with other state and federal enforcement entities, and negotiating resolutions that serve the public interest. The Senior Trial Counsel will be expected to contribute to the development and growth of all staff in the Privacy and Responsible Technologies Division and, at times, may be called on to assist with high-profile litigation or investigations across the Office.
Position Requirements :
While expertise in matters concerning technology is not required, a candidate should demonstrate an eagerness and ability to learn complex concepts and effectively explain them to a court, jury, or the public.
Applicants must be Massachusetts Bar eligible at the time of application and must apply for admission before their start date. Candidates who are not yet admitted may be hired as ‘Counsel’ and must be admitted to the Massachusetts Bar within one year of their start date.

Position Type : Full-Time/Exempt. Our current hybrid model includes some remote workdays for most positions. On in-office days, employees are required to report to one of our designated office locations, either in Boston or at a regional office.
Salary : $135,502
