Senior Turnaround Manager

A leading multi-billion petrochemical company in Jubail, Saudi Arabia, playing a key role in Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030. They’re diversifying the Kingdom’s industries beyond oil & gas. With 16% revenue growth in 2024, they are continuing to expand.


Role Purpose

The Turnaround Strategy Manager is responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive turnaround strategy aligned with Sadara’s long-term business objectives. The role ensures full utilization of maintenance and reliability processes, best practices, tools, and resources, applying long-term cost of ownership principles to deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective turnaround events across the organization.


Key Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership

  • Serve as the administrative leader for all direct and indirect turnaround resources.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the organization-wide turnaround strategy ensuring full compliance across functions.
  • Ensure plant-specific turnaround issues are captured in the strategy.


Safety, Reliability & Cost Control

  • Take ownership of safety, reliability, and cost management in turnaround execution.
  • Lead effective utilization of standardized maintenance and reliability work processes (SMWP & STWP).
  • Planning & Budgeting

    • Establish annual and long-term turnaround plans and budgets, including a 5-year outlook.
    • Forecast spending for the next two turnaround cycles and optimize manpower and resources across departments.
    • Support maintenance and production divisions in aligning turnaround plans with business goals.


    Cross-Functional Collaboration

    • Network with Operations, EHS&S, Reliability, and Engineering leaders to leverage best practices.
    • Facilitate cross-functional collaboration, breaking down silos to drive improvements.
    • Conduct regular meetings with turnaround managers to monitor progress and resolve risks.
    • Participate in turnaround steering committee meetings to provide strategic input.


    Continuous Improvement

    • Drive improvements in turnaround systems, procedures, and processes.
    • Promote active participation and value-added input from all functions.


    Qualifications & Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
    • 15+ years of proven experience in maintenance and reliability within oil, gas, or petrochemical industries.
    • Strong knowledge of turnarounds and project management.
    • Proven leadership and people management skills.
    • Strong understanding of strategic business management and alignment with corporate goals.
