Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Senior Warehouse Manager to lead end-to-end warehouse and distribution center operations. In this high-impact leadership position, you will drive operational excellence, champion continuous improvement, develop high-performing teams, and deliver best-in-class service levels while aggressively controlling costs and maintaining top-tier safety performance.
This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a proven warehouse leader who combines strong people leadership with data-driven process optimization and a passion for scaling efficient, technology-enabled operations. The Warehouse Manager leads and develops the warehouse team to ensure safe, organized, and high-performing operations aligned with Calbee’s “Japan Quality” standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations Management
- Provide full operational leadership for a high-volume warehouse/distribution center, overseeing receiving, put-away, inventory control, order picking, packing, shipping, returns processing, and value-added services.
- Develop and execute short- and long-term operational strategies to achieve or exceed KPIs including on-time shipping, order accuracy ( >99%), inventory accuracy ( >99%), labor productivity, throughput, dock-to-stock time, and cost per unit shipped.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a small hourly and salaried team; build a culture of accountability, engagement, safety-first mindset, and continuous improvement.
- Partner closely with supply chain planning, transportation, customer service, procurement, quality, engineering, and senior leadership to align warehouse performance with overall business objectives.
- Own the P&L for warehouse operations — aggressively manage labor, overtime, supplies, maintenance, and facility costs while identifying and delivering year-over-year productivity and cost savings.
- Champion implementation and optimization of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Labor Management Systems (LMS), slotting optimization, automation (AMRs, conveyors, AS/RS, voice/RF), and emerging technologies to drive efficiency gains.
- Lead continuous improvement programs (Lean, Six Sigma, 5S, Kaizen) and root-cause problem-solving to eliminate waste, reduce variability, and improve process reliability.
- Ensure strict compliance with all safety, health, environmental, food safety (if applicable), OSHA, DOT, and company policies; maintain an injury-free workplace and achieve top-decile safety metrics.
- Monitor daily/weekly/monthly performance dashboards; prepare executive-level reports and presentations on operational performance, trends, risks, and action plans.
- Manage facility maintenance, housekeeping, security, and equipment uptime to support 24/7 or extended-hour operations (when applicable).
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure compliance with all food safety, environmental, and regulatory standards, including FDA, HACCP, GMP, and SQF requirements.
- Maintain detailed records of warehouse activities, including receipts, shipments, transfers, and inventory transactions.
- Support internal and external audits by providing accurate documentation and corrective actions as needed.
Cross-Functional Communication
- Collaborate with Production, Planning, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure seamless material flow and order fulfillment.
- Communicate operational updates, improvement opportunities, and issues to the Operations Manager and site leadership.
- Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the warehouse team.
Key Requirements:- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 7–10 years of progressive warehouse/distribution center leadership experience, with at least 3–5 years in a senior manager or multi-site operations leadership role
- Proven track record managing 100,000+ sq ft facilities and teams of 15 - 25 employees in high-volume, fast-paced environments (e-commerce, retail replenishment, manufacturing, 3PL experience strongly preferred)
- Demonstrated success improving key metrics: productivity +15–30%, cost/unit reduction, safety incident rate reduction, inventory accuracy improvement
- Advanced proficiency with modern WMS (Manhattan, Blue Yonder, Power BI, etc.), ERP integration, slotting tools, and labor management systems
- Strong analytical skills with experience using data (Excel advanced, Power BI/Tableau, SQL basic) to drive decisions and measure ROI on initiatives
- Certification or formal training in Lean/Six Sigma (Green Belt minimum, Black Belt preferred) is highly desirable
