Senior Web Developer

The ideal candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of high-quality, scalable web applications. You'll collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other engineers to translate complex business needs into elegant, reliable, and well-documented solutions. Your expertise will be crucial in building and maintaining the core of our platform.

About the project:

Our client is a U.S.-based software company specializing in defense analytics. Its flagship platform leverages artificial intelligence and integrated data to modernize and accelerate the defense acquisition process. The company works closely with teams across supply chain, science and technology, production, sustainment, logistics, and modernization, providing data-driven capabilities that enable faster and more informed decision-making. It positions itself as a strategic partner to the U.S. government in national security and defense.

Other:

Requires US citizenship and hybrid work from the Newton office at least 2 days per week, with occasional travel to Pittsburgh.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of professional experience in web development, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
• Proficiency with Java (version 11 or higher, with a preference for 17+).
• Experience with Java frameworks such as Quarkus (reactive experience is a plus) or Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience with an ORM framework like Hibernate or Spring Data JPA.
• Proficiency with PostgreSQL or another relational SQL database.
• Expertise with React and its ecosystem, including hooks and component-based architecture.
• Experience with a state management or data fetching library like React Query.
• Expertise with design system components, with a strong preference for MUI.
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
• Experience with RESTful APIs and integrating with third-party services.
• Experience using version control systems (Git/GitHub/GitLab).
• Proficient in web accessibility standards and website performance metrics.

Nice to have:

• Knowledge of DevOps principles, CI/CD pipelines, and cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Experience with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Familiarity with functional or reactive programming concepts.
• Experience working in an Agile development environment.

Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain sophisticated web applications and features according to project requirements.
• Lead technical tasks on assigned projects, ensuring timely and high-quality delivery.
• Collaborate with designers and product owners to translate UI/UX designs and business needs into functional code.
• Write clean, efficient, and reusable code, following established best practices.
• Integrate APIs and third-party services as required.
• Ensure cross-browser, cross-platform, and cross-device compatibility.
• Participate in code reviews to maintain code quality and share knowledge.
• Diagnose, debug, and optimize performance.
