Senior WordPress Developer

We are looking for a seasoned Senior WordPress Developer to lead development, maintenance, and optimization of our WordPress-based websites. This role involves building high-quality, scalable WordPress sites, overseeing complex customizations (themes, plugins), ensuring best practices around performance, security, and user experience — and collaborating cross-functionally with designers, marketers, and backend teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and maintain WordPress websites — including custom themes, plugins, and integrations.
• Translate design and UI/UX requirements into clean, efficient, and maintainable PHP/HTML/CSS/JS code.
• Implement and manage integrations with third-party services (e.g. payment gateways, CRM/email tools, analytics, APIs).
• Optimize site performance, page load times, and ensure responsive, mobile-first design.
• Ensure website security, manage updates (core, themes, plugins), backups, and monitor for vulnerabilities.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues with site functionality, compatibility, and cross-browser behaviour.
• Collaborate with designers, content managers, and stakeholders to deliver new features, landing pages, or content-driven updates.
• Mentor junior developers or freelancers, review code, and enforce coding standards & best practices.
• Document workflows, site architecture, and provide recommendations for long-term scalability & maintainability.

Requirements / Skills

• Strong experience (5+ years) working with WordPress — including custom theme and plugin development.
• Solid command over PHP, MySQL, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (and optionally JS frameworks/libraries).
• Good understanding of web standards, responsive design, cross-browser compatibility, and performance optimization.
• Familiarity with version control (e.g. Git), staging/production workflows, debugging, and deployment processes.
• Experience integrating WordPress with external services (APIs, payment gateways, CRM/email tools, analytics, etc.).
• Awareness of web security best practices, and ability to harden WordPress installations.
• Good communication skills, ability to liaise with non-technical stakeholders (designers, marketers, content editors).
• Problem-solving mindset, attention to detail, clean & maintainable code practices.
• (Nice to have) Experience with server-side management, caching/CDN, custom post types, WP-CLI, headless/decoupled WordPress, multilingual sites, or modern frameworks (React, Vue, etc).

Preferred / Bonus

• Experience working on high-traffic or content-heavy websites (e.g. e-commerce, membership sites, blogs).
• Experience working with page-builders or block-based development (Gutenberg), as well as traditional theme-based workflows.
• Understanding of SEO, web accessibility, and performance metrics.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹55,368.62 - ₹81,545.33 per month
