Position Overview
The Senior Workshop Engineer is responsible for leading and managing workshop operations to ensure the efficient maintenance and repair of vehicles and heavy earthmoving equipment. This role involves supervising technical staff, providing advanced mechanical expertise, optimizing processes for cost-effectiveness, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervision & Management – Lead workshop teams, allocate tasks, and ensure safety protocols and best practices are consistently followed.
- Technical Expertise – Provide hands-on technical guidance and resolve complex issues in heavy vehicles and machinery.
- Maintenance Planning – Develop and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for all equipment and fleet vehicles.
- Quality Assurance – Monitor repair and service activities to meet internal standards, client expectations, and regulatory compliance.
- Inventory & Parts Management – Control spare parts inventory to minimize downtime and ensure availability of critical components.
- Troubleshooting & Diagnostics – Conduct advanced diagnostics to identify root causes of malfunctions in engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
- Training & Development – Mentor, coach, and train junior technicians to strengthen technical capability and foster continuous improvement.
- Documentation – Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, inspections, and equipment history.
- Process Optimization – Identify and implement improvements in workflow, efficiency, and cost control within the workshop.
Required Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of hands-on experience in heavy vehicle and earthmoving equipment maintenance and repair.
- Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of hydraulics, engines, transmissions, and electrical systems in heavy equipment.
- Software Proficiency: Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with CAD or diagnostic software is an advantage.
- Leadership: Proven ability to supervise and motivate technical teams in a workshop environment.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to resolve complex mechanical issues.
- Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills for reporting, coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
- Regional Experience: Previous experience in the UAE/Gulf region is preferred.
