Chess Gaja is a fast-growing chess education startup founded by Grandmaster Priyadharshan Kannappan. Our passionate, remote team is united by a drive to make a global impact in chess education. We're scaling rapidly across 40+ countries, and we need bold, adaptable content creators to help shape our brand story and grow with us.

What This Role Is:
We need a self-driven, creative content professional who thrives in ambiguity and uses AI/SEO tools to work smarter. You'll own our content engine — from writing and SEO to tracking what works — and help make Chess Gaja a thought leader in global chess education.

Key Responsibilities:

• Research, plan, and write compelling, SEO-optimized long-form content (blogs, guides, landing pages, newsletters, case studies, etc.) in clear, engaging language.
• Conduct keyword research and competitive analysis using SEMrush to identify high-intent opportunities and gaps in the EdTech/chess space.
• Focus on keyword intent, on-page SEO, structure, and user experience — no keyword stuffing!
• Edit/proofread for accuracy, clarity, and consistency with our brand voice.

Manage our content calendar, ensuring timely delivery and strategic content updates.
Collaborate with designers, marketing, coaches, and stakeholders to produce impactful campaigns and web content.

• Analyze content performance (traffic, engagement, SEO rankings) and optimize based on data.
• Keep up with trends in EdTech, online learning, and chess education to create relevant and authoritative content.
• Contribute creative ad copy and emailers, guiding our messaging and brand story.

Maintain content in WordPress with attention to design and SEO best practices.

Who You Are:

• Excellent research and writing skills — you simplify complex ideas and inspire action.

Proven understanding of SEO principles, SERP ranking, and latest trends in AI search.

• Hands-on experience with SEMrush (or similar SEO tools like Ahrefs) for keyword research, competitive analysis, and rank tracking.
• High attention to editorial detail — your work's always polished and on-brand.

Experience creating long-form educational content (EdTech/education background a plus).

• Knowledge of content marketing, conversion copywriting, and storytelling.
• Comfortable with CMS platforms like WordPress or Webflow.
• Basic chess knowledge is a must — you understand how to play a complete game and recognize legal vs. illegal moves. This helps you collaborate effectively with our coaches and verify content accuracy.
• Organized, self-motivated, and able to juggle multiple deadlines in a dynamic environment.
• Collaborative mindset — you thrive in remote teamwork and open feedback.

What You Bring:

• 2+ years of professional content writing, preferably in SEO/content marketing (see Compensation note for freshers below).
• Portfolio with SEO articles, brand copy, and marketing collateral.
• Fresh perspectives on content for chess, education, or EdTech.

Work Schedule:
Full-time (6 days/week), Monday to Saturday, 9 AM – 6 PM IST (Sunday off)

Compensation:
Experienced Candidates (2-3 years in SEO/content marketing): INR range 20,000 to 23,000 (includes yearly retention bonus)

Higher salary negotiable upto 25,000 for standout candidates or advanced experience (3+ years experience in this domain)

Fresher Candidates (0–2 years or portfolio-based entry):
We absolutely consider fresher talent with strong writing skills, SEO fundamentals, and passion for chess education. Fresher candidates will be offered a lower pay range with structured mentorship and growth opportunities. We'll discuss specifics based on your portfolio and potential.
