About Off The Record

Some of life’s greatest moments are marked with music — the kind that elicits a rush of nostalgia and emotion with a single familiar note. That’s the premise of Off The Record. It’s the Valley’s first and only group singalong bar where the crowd is the entertainment. There are no karaoke machines. No solos. Just an entire room singing the most memorable anthems of all time, all together — all guided by professional DJs who have perfected the art of engaging and entertaining.

We run DJ-led sing-along events where the energy never stops and the floor never slows down. If a packed room full of people singing at the top of their lungs sounds like your ideal work environment, read on.

The Role

As a server at Off The Record you own your section end to end — from the moment a guest sits down to the moment their tab is closed. We operate a team service model (tip pool): you own the guest relationship and the floor, bartenders own the builds behind the bar. Your job is to know your tables, move fast, upsell naturally, and keep the energy of the room going while you do it.

Servers rotate across general floor and VIP sections. VIP at Off The Record means beer buckets, champagne splits, and premium round service — not complicated, but it requires presence, attentiveness, and the ability to make a table feel taken care of without hovering. Some shifts you may also be assigned to the shot cart — a roving sales role working the floor independently, reading the room, and driving impulse purchases all night.

You are part of the party — not just the floor

At Off The Record, staff energy is part of the product. When the DJ drops a banger and the whole room erupts, we expect our servers to erupt with it. You are moving through a live show — that means singing along, dancing between tables, and hyping your sections during big moments. Guests tip the people who made their night, and the server who feels the room always makes more than the one who just takes the order.

  • You are not required to perform — you are expected to be genuine. If you love music and naturally feel it, this will come easily.
  • Sing-along moments, hands in the air, crowd energy — you are moving through all of it. Own the room, don’t just work in it.
  • High energy for a full late-night shift is a requirement, not a bonus. The last hour should feel the same as the first.

What you’ll do

  • Own your section: greet every table within 60 seconds, take orders, deliver drinks, check back, close tabs — full cycle, no shortcuts
  • Upsell naturally on every interaction — suggest rounds before DJ sets, recommend upgrades, push beer buckets and champagne splits for VIP tables
  • Use the DJ set schedule as a sales tool — push rounds hard during set breaks, the 5-minute window before a set starts is your biggest opportunity every night
  • Work VIP sections with attentiveness and presence — proactive check-backs every 15 minutes, present every bucket and split with intention
  • Work the shot cart on assigned nights — read the room, approach confidently, sell with personality
  • Ring every order through POS accurately — your end-of-shift beverage sales total is how tip-out to the bar team is calculated
  • Observe responsible alcohol service standards — you are in the room, you see the guests up close, and you are on the front line of guest safety
  • Complete tip-out, reconcile your tabs, and sign off with the manager before leaving — every shift, no exceptions

What we’re looking for

Must have

  • 1+ years serving or cocktail server experience in a bar, nightlife, or high-volume venue
  • Natural salesperson — upselling doesn’t feel awkward to you, it feels like good hospitality
  • POS proficient — fast, accurate, and organized on a busy floor
  • High energy, outgoing personality — you light up a room, not just a table
  • Genuine love of music — you have to actually feel the room, not just move through it
  • Comfortable and confident in a loud, fast-moving nightlife environment — this is not a casual dining shift
  • Reliable and punctual — every shift, every time. 21+ with valid AZ ID.

Strong plus

  • VIP or bottle service experience — you know how to make a table feel special without being told twice
  • Experience working a roving sales role — shot cart, merchandise, event floor sales, or similar
  • Nightclub, live music venue, or entertainment bar background specifically
  • Experience with responsible alcohol service and spotting intoxication while moving through a crowd

This role is not for you if

  • You prefer a slower-paced environment where you can have long conversations with every table
  • Loud music and a screaming crowd for 5+ hours sounds exhausting rather than exhilarating
  • Upselling feels pushy to you — here it’s how you take care of your tables and earn your night
  • Dancing and singing along while you work sounds unprofessional to you — here it’s part of the job description
  • You want your tip to be guaranteed — your earnings here are directly tied to how well you sell and how well you serve
