Server/Bartender - PT/FT Both Available

Japanese cuisine with a modern twist which includes sushi, ramen, grilled kitchen, and sake bar.

We are looking for either one highly experienced Bartender who is also familiar with Serving, or two candidates who are interested in either serving or bartending. We are located in the heart of the restaurant district in Elgin, IL. Kubo Sushi & Sake Lounge is a family-owned business since 2018. Having a knowledge of Asian Cuisine is not required but will be a major part of your training. In this job, you’ll be the face of our restaurant and responsible for our customers’ experiences. You need to be quick on your feet (literally and metaphorically) and have a polite and friendly attitude. If you enjoy talking to people and thrive in a fast-paced workplace, we’d like to meet you. Your ultimate goal will be to provide high-quality service that will help us maintain and attract customers.


Job Duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Prepare restaurant tables with special attention to sanitation and order.
  • Attend to customers upon entrance with a friendly greeting. If the Host is not available, it is required to take over the host's position, in that moment, to ensure customers are directed to their table - whether they made reservations or are walk-ins.
  • Present restaurant menus and help customers select food/beverages. Having a familiarity with customization of items and having a broad understanding of the top 10 most common allergens is encouraged.
  • Take and serve orders. Communication with the FOH team, BOH kitchen team, and Executive Sushi Chef are essential and a requirement.
  • Take food/beverage orders in-person, online, and over the phone, while being able to manage the flow of in-house food that needs to be expedited.
  • Must be able to repeat orders for guest confirmation and process payments in our point-of-sale.
  • Correctly enter orders in our point-of-sale following established ringing guidelines and able to adapt to "on the fly" adjustments
  • Package food and beverages for our guests remembering special requests and additional items
  • Answer questions or make recommendations for complementary products.
  • Collaborate with other restaurant servers and kitchen/bar staff
  • Deal with complaints or problems with a positive attitude. Escalate any immediate issues to the FOH Manager or Executive Chef.
  • Issue bills and accept payment
  • Having your Basset/Food Handler's Certification within 45 days of hire is required.
