Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Service Deli Manager to oversee the daily operations of our deli department. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service management, excellent leadership skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. As a Service Deli Manager, you will be responsible for managing staff, ensuring food safety and quality, and maintaining inventory control while fostering a positive work environment.
Duties
- Supervise daily deli operations, ensuring compliance with food safety standards and regulations.
- Manage food preparation and cooking processes to deliver high-quality products to customers.
- Oversee inventory control, including ordering supplies and managing stock levels to minimize waste.
- Train, develop, and mentor staff in food handling practices, customer service skills, and operational procedures.
- Implement budgeting strategies to maintain profitability while ensuring quality goods and service.
- Foster a positive team environment through effective communication and leadership.
- Handle customer inquiries and resolve any issues to ensure satisfaction.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the deli area in accordance with health regulations.
Requirements
- Must have previous management experience and be able to effectively direct and supervise up to 15 employees.
- Must have an overall knowledge of retail Service Deli department or similar retail operations.
- Must be outgoing, able to communicate, interact and work well with the public, coworkers and management and have exceptional customer service skills.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to effectively supervise, train, reward, discipline and motivate employees within the Service Deli department.
- Must be well organized and have experience in ordering perishable food products, product rotation, and inventory control.
- Familiarity with inventory control processes, budgeting and gross profit achievement practices.
- Must follow safe food handling and safe working procedures.
- Must have open availability for working hours, including weekends and most holidays.
- Must be able to effectively operate a computer in order to enter and obtain data essential to the operation of the Service Deli department.
- Must be able to operate department equipment such as telephones, wrapping stations, scales, knives, meat slicers, stoves and ovens.
- Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds, with or without accommodation.
- Some squatting, twisting at the neck and waist required.
- Frequent bending, reaching and grasping, including power grasping and fine manipulation, required.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to reach above and at shoulder level.
- Vision requirements for this position require close vision.
- Must have reliable transportation to get to work.
- Must obtain a County Food Worker Card upon hiring.
- Other duties as needed and required.
