Service Operations Manager – Shop Leadership & Team Development

Pay: $40,000 – $55,000 base salary (based on experience) + Performance Bonusestotal compensation potential up to $95,000/year
Location: 1836 HD – Geronimo Business Park, Seguin, TX (between San Antonio & Austin)

1836 HD is the Home of Certified Service, proudly serving San Antonio, Austin, Houston, Dallas–Fort Worth, Texas Hill Country, and Phoenix, AZ with both mobile and in-shop repairs. We specialize in HD trucks & equipment, motorcoaches & RVs, trailers, generators, and construction/ag equipment.

Position Summary

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for organizing and improving service operations while coaching the team to excellence. You’ll own the flow from lead intake → estimating/approvals → parts coordination → technician dispatch → quality control → payment and follow-up.

While 1836 HD is an established and growing company, this position will require you to be actively engaged in the early stages — stepping into roles such as service advisor, dispatch, and parts management as needed while we staff and train additional team members in our new facility to maintain productivity and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations: service writing, scheduling/dispatch, quality control, customer communications
  • Build and improve processes for service, parts, and technician workflow; document SOPs
  • Oversee parts sourcing, ordering, inventory accuracy, and vendor relationships
  • Drive sales results: convert approved estimates, recommend preventative services, ensure margin targets
  • Track and report KPIs (lead conversion, billed hours, cycle time, CSI, parts turns) and implement improvements
  • Recruit, hire, onboard, and mentor service advisors, parts personnel, and technicians
  • Coordinate with ownership on shop initiatives, facility improvements, and policy updates
  • Ensure accurate work orders, approvals, and timely payment collection; maintain professional customer experience

Qualifications

  • Experience as a Service/Operations Manager, Service Manager, or Service Advisor (HD diesel or RV strongly preferred)
  • Proven leadership with the ability to wear multiple hats and hold teams accountable
  • Demonstrated sales acumen: estimating, presenting solutions, overcoming objections, closing approvals
  • Strong operational knowledge: dispatch, invoicing, parts, and job costing
  • Excellent communication and organization; calm under pressure with multiple active jobs
  • Tech-savvy: MS Office (Word/Excel), Outlook, CRM; Fullbay and/or Mitchell 1 highly preferred

Schedule

  • Full-time, salaried leadership position: Expect 40–60 hours per week, including some Saturdays, with schedule flexibility as needed to support shop operations
  • After a successful 90-day probationary period and performance review, limited remote options may be available for later-hour coordination and scheduling support
