Overview
Service Staff - Cleaner and Bus Assistant
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities
1. Assisting and supervising students as they board and leave the school bus.
2. Monitoring and supervising each student at all times while they are in the bus.
3. Following the instructions of the administration officer.
4. Being on time to board the bus at the designated stop.
5. Being aware of and prepared to meet any emergency situation which might arise.
6. Monitor student discipline and safeguard their health and safety at all times.
7. Take minimum leaves during the academic year, only in case of genuine reason.
8. Adhere to the attendance rules and report to bus duty on time.
9. In case of taking a leave, inform the administration officer a day in advance.
10. Ensure that all students are seated while the bus is moving and are using seat belts where they are provided. No student is to be seated in the center seat of the rear row.
11. Ensure that no students are left on board at the final destination. Ensure that the attendance is taken at the beginning of the trip to ensure that all children are boarded and mark off at the end of the trip to ensure that no student is left on board before you leave the bus.
12. Update student attendance daily on MAMMAN system during the morning pick up and afternoon drop off.
13. Ensure students under 11 years age returning home are dropped off with a guardian. In case the guardian is not available, inform the school that the student is being returned to the school after the remaining students are dropped off.
14. Ensure students behave themselves and look after their safety during the journey. Report any incidents to the Administration Officer.
15. Ensure doorways, aisles and emergency exists are clear of any obstructions during the journey.
16. Assist in evacuating the bus in case of emergency.
17. Refrain from eating, drinking and using the telephone while students are on the bus.
18. Participate in educating students about traffic safety and how to use the bus, and supervise any pre-approved entertainment program on the bus.
19. Ensure that the senior boys occupy front row seats, children below age of 9 occupy middle rows and senior girls seated at the rear rows.
20. Don’t allow any unauthorized persons to travel in the bus.
21. Adhere to school rules and their amendments from time to time.
22. Take up and fulfill other responsibilities and duties as requested by the line manager and Principal.
Skills Description
01. Pastoral Duties
1. Monitor the wellbeing of all students under care;
2. Support students who need special assistance in boarding and leaving the bus, who are gifted/talented or who need additional care;
3. Communicate, as appropriate, with parents of students after consultation and approval from Admin Officer and Principal.
02. Compliance
1. Establish effective working relationships and set a good example through personal and professional conduct;
2. Maintain confidentiality on matters related to school, staff, students and infrastructure.
03. Covid-19 Pandemic Safety Responsibilities:
1. Ensure that all students inside the bus are sitting only on their designated seat with 2-meter distance among each other.
2. Ensure that the bus is occupied by 50% of its capacity.
3. Ensure that the students body temperature is below 37.5 degree before they board the bus in the morning and afternoon.
4. Provide hand sanitizer to all students to sanitize their hands before they enter the bus.
5. Ensure that all students who are 6 years and above are wearing face mask before they enter the bus.
6. Ensure that the students do not remove their face mask during the trip.
7. Ensure that students do not share food/materials among each other.
8. After boarding the bus, in between the trip if a student shows any symptoms like sneezing, coughing etc. then make arrangement to separate that particular child from other students and make him/her sit at the back row of the bus. If this is happening during the morning trip inform the school administration and guide the student straight to the isolation room. If this is happening during afternoon trip, inform the Parents and make arrangement to drop that particular student as first drop off.
