Job Title: Set Designer (Contract)
Start Date: Immediate
Location: On-site (in person)
Schedule: Day & Evening shifts, with weekend work as needed

About the Project

This December, step into The Elf Bar — a whimsical, elf-themed Christmas pop-up bar designed to spread holiday cheer! The experience will immerse guests in a world of festive magic, laughter, and joy. Expect sparkling lights, elf figurines, themed cocktails, interactive games, and plenty of photo-worthy moments.

The goal is to transform the space into a vibrant winter wonderland, creating a fully immersive environment that delights every visitor and makes The Elf Bar the destination of the season.

Creative Direction & Theme

Theme: Playful “Elf Workshop” meets Christmas Speakeasy
Tone: Whimsical, bright, and immersive
Moodboard Keywords: North Pole workshop, candy cane stripes, glittering snow, red & green palette, oversized toys, glowing string lights, festive chaos with charm

Key focal areas:

  • Entrance statement piece (“Elf HQ” or “Workshop Entry”)
  • Themed cocktail bar area
  • Interactive photo wall / backdrop
  • Game and entertainment zones
  • Ceiling and wall décor (garlands, hanging ornaments, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the creative and event production team to refine the Christmas theme and spatial layout.
  • Develop set design concepts, sketches, and moodboards for approval.
  • Source, fabricate, and install set pieces, backdrops, and decorations (using both new and existing materials).
  • Ensure all designs are safe, functional, and guest-friendly.
  • Manage time, materials, and budget efficiently.
  • Coordinate with installation crews for setup and teardown.
  • Conduct at least one site visit to confirm measurements, spatial flow, and logistics.
  • Provide regular progress updates, including any sourcing or design challenges.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in set, prop, or event design, with a portfolio demonstrating creativity and execution.
  • Strong understanding of spatial design, theming, and material sourcing.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure.
  • A passion for crafting immersive, joy-filled environments.

Deliverables

  • Concept sketches or moodboards within 3 days of onboarding.
  • Materials sourcing plan and estimated budget.
  • Finalized set design and production timeline.
  • Participation in site visit (date TBD, within the next week).
  • Oversight of build and installation prior to event launch.
