Sexual Assault Victim Advocate/ Court Advocate

Minimum Requirements:High school graduate with education or experience in addressing domestic and sexual violence, stalking and human trafficking, valid driver’s license and insurance, ability to work in crisis situations as a team member and independently, self motivated, adequate understanding of clients who have A & D and/or mental health issues.

Preferred Requirements: College degree in related field

Job Description

Serving those affected by Sexual Violence by providing one-on-one advocacy and/or hospital accompaniment in Maury, Giles, Lawrence and Wayne Counties.

Serving those affected by Domestic Violence by providing Court Advocacy in Giles, and Lawrence Counties.

• Available to make follow up calls on regular schedule and explain services available through Center of Hope.
• Determine needs of clients and shelter admission, if appropriate.
• Set up appointments for face to face follow up.
• Develop a safety plan.
• Maintain a safe and open environment for clients to discuss their concerns and needs.
• Maintain up-to-date, accurate and understandable records

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Demonstrate supportive, positive, trauma-informed care approach toward clients

• Skilled in addressing the special needs of victims, while displaying a compassionate and professional approach.
• Ability to effectively network with other agencies and the community, by accessing services available to the client population.
• Always communicates clearly, using words and styles of presentation which are appropriate for the situation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills; able to meet deadlines.
• Communicates in a positive manner with all team members.
• Available for on-call
• Ability to assist with donations; processing and distribution.
• Conduct self in a professional manner.
• Available to work flexible days and hours.
• Comply with established standards of care for clients.
• Adhere to staff code of conduct, including confidentiality agreements and other requirements.
