Job Purpose
- To implement, monitor, review, and control process parameters during the shift to achieve design objectives, product yield, and quality targets. Ensures safe and reliable plant operations while enhancing operational excellence across the unit.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities –
Quality Management System

Coordinate shift-wise maintenance, technical, and operational activities.

Set job priorities and manage field officer deployment..

Optimize throughput and yield as per plan
-
Coordinate with AAM, Planning, TS Lead, and Lab
-
Ensure timely and safely equipment handover/takeover.

Plan daily jobs with shift engineers
-
Comply with operational budget.
Systems, Policies & Procedures
-
Implement unit-specific systems and SOPs during shift under the guidance of AM/ AAM.
-
Communicate procedures effectively to all concerned employees.
-
Ensure all SOP adherence across operating units.
Management
-
Take emergency deviations with intimation to AAM/AM/RSM
-
Monitor implementation of systems and policies during shift.
-
Achieve daily operational targets.
-
Participate in ABC meetings for problem-solving
Team Management
-
Guide team members on roles and responsibilities.
-
Introduce job rotation and training opportunities.
-
Report deviations and corrective actions to AAM/AM
-
Deputize/exchange field officers as needed.
OHSMS – Health, Safety & Welfare
-
Implement HSEF procedures during shift.
-
Conduct safety audits and PSSR as directed.
-
Take emergency action to protect personnel and contain incidents.
-
Maintain housekeeping and prepare TBRA.
-
Adhere to work permit system and safety policies.
-
Report substandard condition/ Acts, near misses, incidents, and accidents.
-
Issue/reject work permits and generate SAP job requests.
Environment Management System
-
Initiate/stop effluent disposal per safety norms.
-
Ensure compliance with environmental regulations and SOPs.
-
Maintain awareness of environmental consequences and legal obligations.

Stay updated on RIMS & EnMS documentation.
Energy Management System (ISO 50001:2018)

Monitor energy objectives and performance

Report deviations to higher authority
-
Ensure awareness of energy-related documentation and compliance
Qualifications
Educational Qualifications & Certifications:
B.E. / Diploma /
B.Sc. Chemistry or equivalent
Relevant (Functional/Level) & Total Years Of Experience
Minimum 1 year as Shift In-Charge in a refinery unit.
