Shipping and Receiving Specialist - VA Site Plant 2

SCOPE:

Shipping Manager is responsible for various tasks including managing/leading shipping operators, verifying content for shipping, receiving packages, managing ordering supplies, and following/improving shipping procedure. Main goal is to always ensure timely, accurate and secure shipping and distribution.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work independently to plan and implement overall shipping strategy
• Supervise and oversee shipping team members
• Work together with Quality and Production to oversee the whole shipping process
• Set shipping KPIs and monitor them
• Prepare and present KPI reports to Quality Control Manager
• Suggest solutions for process optimization
• Monitor and Maintain SAP shipping accounts for customers
• Work closely with sales when expedite shipments are required
• Set and control shipping and distribution budget
• Build and maintain professional relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders (such as warehouse workers, vendors, purchasing managers, suppliers, etc.)
• Negotiate better pricing for shipping supplies
• Identify shipping issues and implement solutions in a timely manner
• Create and present reports for upper management

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 5 years of experience as a Shipping Manager
• Knowledge of logistics operations and shipping procedures and documents
• Hands on experience in budgeting, reporting to management and shipping
• Critical thinker and problem-solving skills / good time-management skills
• Great interpersonal, communication and leadership skills
• High school diploma

WORKING CONDITIONS AND TRAINING:

• Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment.
• Shipping/Receiving department requires the use of safety equipment to include but not limited to: eye safety glasses, hearing protectors, and gloves.
• Loose fitting clothes and dangling jewelry are not permitted as detailed in safety requirements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
