Job Summary


The primary responsibility of the Shipping & Receiving Associate entails managing the receipt and dispatch of incoming materials, supplies, and products. This includes verifying items against shipping records, inspecting their condition upon arrival, and meticulously packing them for shipment in alignment with specified requirements and chosen transportation methods. Moreover, the position involves documenting received and shipped items following established protocols and ensuring the accuracy of goods against shipment records.


Essential Duties

  • Verifies the presence of necessary documentation, such as certified weight tickets, to guarantee the receipt of the correct products acquired.
  • Cross-References the dates and truck/trailer numbers and confirms that the certified CAT scale documentation accurately reflects the purchased weight, given that the product is brought by weight.
  • Ensures that goods are shipped to the appropriate locations such as manufacturing facilities for recycled materials or to customer location or distribution center for finished goods as required.
  • Oversees the documentation of damaged or faulty items, discrepancies in quantities and weights, and recording essential details such as time, date, quantity, source, and destination of materials received or shipped.
  • Loads products onto trucks.
  • Assists with finished good cycle counts.
  • Wraps finished goods when required.
  • Adheres to first-in-first-out (FIFO) plan when retrieving and loading products.
  • Identifies or relocates cones as necessary to ensure compliance with the FIFO principle.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications, Skills, Abilities and Educational Requirements

Required
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • 1 – 3 years of experience in distribution, shipping and receiving in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a fast paced and high-volume work environment.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities in an efficient manner
  • Proactive “self-starter” with a strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

Work Environment
This position works in a manufacturing work setting. Frequently exposed to seasonal temperatures of excessive cold or heat. Work environment is often loud, dusty and/or dirty due to the concrete materials required for production.
