Shovel operator

Job Purpose

To safely and efficiently operate a shovel/excavator at construction sites for earthmoving, loading, trenching, grading, and site preparation activities, ensuring smooth project operations in compliance with safety and quality standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate shovel/excavator machines for excavation, trenching, backfilling, and loading materials.
• Inspect and maintain machinery daily to ensure proper functioning.
• Follow site drawings, instructions, and signals from site engineers and supervisors.
• Load dump trucks with soil, sand, debris, and construction materials.
• Dig foundations, trenches, pits, and other required areas accurately.
• Ensure safety of workers and surrounding structures while operating machinery.
• Perform minor repairs and report any mechanical issues to maintenance.
• Maintain cleanliness of the machine and ensure proper lubrication.
• Follow all HSE (Health, Safety, Environment) rules and report any hazards.
• Coordinate with site personnel to ensure smooth workflow.
• Ensure proper leveling, grading, and compacting as instructed.
• Operate the machine in all weather and site conditions.

Skills & Requirements

• Valid UAE shovel/excavator operator license.
• Minimum 2–3 years of GCC experience in construction sites.
• Good understanding of machine controls and safety protocols.
• Ability to read and follow instructions.
• Physical fitness and alertness for long working hours.
