Shuttering Carpenter

Key Responsibilities

Measure, cut, and assemble wooden or metal formwork (shuttering) for concrete structures

Install formwork for columns, beams, slabs, walls, footings, and other structural elements

Ensure shuttering is properly aligned, leveled, and securely supported

Dismantle and remove shuttering after concrete has set, without damaging structures

Maintain and repair shuttering materials for reuse

Read and interpret drawings and instructions from supervisors or engineers

Follow site safety rules and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times

Work closely with steel fixers, masons, and site supervisors

Keep the work area clean and organized

Requirements & Qualifications

Proven experience as a shuttering carpenter in construction projects

Knowledge of timber, plywood, and metal shuttering systems

Ability to use hand tools, power tools, and measuring equipment

Understanding of construction drawings and basic measurements

Physically fit and able to work at heights and in outdoor conditions

Knowledge of safety practices on construction sites

Experience

Minimum 2–5 years of experience as a shuttering carpenter (project-based experience preferred)
