Site Accountant

JOB OVERVIEW:

To manage day-to-day accounting and financial activities at the project site, ensuring accurate cost tracking, proper documentation, and timely reporting to the head office. The role supports project managers in monitoring expenses, validating supplier invoices, and maintaining compliance with company financial policies.

What you will do:

Site-Level Accounting & Reporting

  • Record daily site financial transactions including petty cash, supplier invoices, and subcontractor bills.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial summaries for site management and head office.
  • Maintain an updated record of site budgets, commitments, and actual expenditures.

Cost Control & Verification

  • Verify supplier delivery notes and match them with purchase orders and invoices.
  • Track and report labor, equipment, and material costs against project budgets.
  • Support project managers in monitoring cost overruns and highlight variances early.

Petty Cash & Payments

  • Manage and reconcile site petty cash, ensuring proper documentation and approvals for all disbursements.
  • Process advance requests for site expenses in coordination with the head office accounts department.
  • Follow up on supplier and subcontractor payments to avoid delays that impact project progress.

Compliance & Documentation

  • Ensure all site financial transactions are in compliance with company policies and UAE accounting standards.
  • Keep organized records of contracts, purchase orders, invoices, and payment vouchers for audit purposes.
  • Assist in preparing supporting documentation for internal and external audits.

Coordination & Communication

  • Liaise with procurement, stores, and project teams to ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Communicate regularly with the finance department to resolve discrepancies and provide timely updates.
  • Support project close-out by providing final cost data and reconciliations.

What should you have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Commerce.
  • 2-3 years of experience as an accountant, preferably in the construction or contracting industry.
  • Good knowledge of accounting principles, cost control, and project financial management.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Excel.
  • Excellent attention to detail, analytical skills, and ability to work independently on-site.
  • Strong communication and coordination abilities.
