1. Education & Qualification
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent) is essential.
- Diploma in Civil Engineering may be acceptable for certain smaller projects, but preference to BE/B.Tech.
- Additional certifications (e.g. AutoCAD, Quantity Surveying, Primavera / MS Project / Scheduler, Safety training) will be a plus.
2. Experience
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in site engineering / construction management in infrastructure projects (roads, bridges, tunnels, drainage, foundations etc.).
- Experience with reading & interpreting construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Exposure to quality control / QA-QC, safety protocols, managing subcontractors, site supervision.
3. Technical Skills & Knowledge
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and execute work per plan.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, materials (cement, steel, concrete, aggregates etc.), tests, curing, reinforcement, formwork etc.
- Knowledge of relevant standards, building codes, safety regulations.
- Basic surveying, leveling work, alignment, setting out works.
- Use of construction / project management software tools (AutoCAD, MS Project / Primavera, Excel etc.).
4. Responsibilities & Duties
- Oversee day-to-day site operations: monitoring progress, manpower, materials & equipment.
- Ensure works are carried out as per design, drawings, specifications & quality standards.
- Ensure site safety and environmental compliance: enforce safety protocols, conduct inspections.
- Liaise / coordinate with architects, contractors, suppliers, consultants for smooth operations.
- Material procurement & inventory handling on site: ensure correct materials, quantities & timely supply.
- Prepare and submit regular site progress reports (daily / weekly / monthly).
- Maintain site documentation: daily logs, site diaries, test reports, RFI (Request for Information), drawings revisions etc.
- Identify technical / execution challenges and propose solutions.
- Ensure contract / BOQ / payment entitlements are properly maintained (if applicable).
5. Soft Skills & Personal Attributes
- Strong communication skills—able to coordinate with multiple stakeholders: contractors, labour, clients, consultants.
- Problem-solving mindset; ability to handle on-site surprises or deviations.
- Organizational skills and time-management: ability to plan and meet deadlines.
- Leadership: supervising teams, mentoring junior staff or workers.
- Adaptability: construction sites often have changing conditions (weather, supply delays, etc.).
- Attention to detail: for quality, safety, materials, finishing.
6. Other Requirements
- Valid driver’s license; ability to move between sites.
- Willingness to travel as required by projects.
- Ability to work in challenging site conditions (outdoor, heights, varying weather).
- Immediate joiner or notice period flexibility may be preferred.
