Summary

The Site Engineer will act as the on-site technical lead, responsible for supervising daily construction activities, ensuring that the works are executed in accordance with drawings, specifications, quality, safety and schedule requirements. The role requires a hands-on approach, strong coordination with site teams and subcontractors, and effective communication with the design/project team.

Key Responsibilities

• Review, interpret and verify construction drawings, shop drawings, specifications and BOQs.
• Supervise the day-to-day site activities: labour, subcontractors, materials, equipment.
• Monitor progress against the project schedule, identify delays or issues and propose corrective actions.
• Ensure materials, workmanship and finished works comply with quality standards, approved drawings and specifications.
• Coordinate with internal departments (design, QS, procurement), subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and site team.
• Maintain site documentation: daily site reports/diary, progress logs, site instructions, variation requests, quality checklists.
• Assist in health, safety and environmental compliance onsite; ensure safety protocols are followed by all personnel.
• Participate in inspections, coordinate with local authorities (if applicable), and support handover activities.
• Provide technical support to solve on-site issues: setting out, surveying, dimensional control, alignment, and measurement verification.
• Proactively identify risks and implement mitigation measures to avoid cost overruns, schedule delays or quality issues.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, or related field.
• Typically 2-5 years (or more, depending on project scale) of site engineering or site supervision experience in building/construction projects; UAE or GCC experience preferred.
• Good understanding of construction methods, materials, structural works, finishing works and site logistics.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, and skills in setting out, surveying, measurement.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word), site documentation tools; familiarity with AutoCAD or similar is an advantage.
• Valid UAE driving licence is often desirable when site travel is required.
• Strong communication, organisational, problem-solving and team-work skills; ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
