Job Title: Site Engineer
Employment Type: Full-time
Job Purpose:
The Site Engineer will oversee day-to-day engineering and construction activities on the yard floor and onsite build area. You will ensure that all workflows—from hull erection, structure installation, systems integration, to final commissioning—are executed according to design, specification, schedule and quality standards. You will act as a key technical link between the design/engineering department, production teams, subcontractors and site management.
Key Responsibilities:
Review engineering drawings, fabrication and installation plans and participate in pre-work planning.
Monitor and coordinate site construction activities: structural assembly, piping, mechanical installations, electrical systems, finishing works.
Ensure compliance with design specifications, class and regulatory requirements (marine/yacht sector) and internal quality standards.
Liaise with design engineers, project managers and production teams to identify and solve technical/construction issues.
Track progress against project schedules; identify delays or bottlenecks and propose counter-measures.
Inspect workmanship and materials; raise non-conformities and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Support commissioning and testing phases: assist in functional tests of systems, sea-trials preparation, and handover documentation.
Provide technical input to cost control, reporting and safe working practices on site.
Maintain clear and accurate documentation of site engineering work: drawings revisions, site reports, test records, punch lists.
Promote HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) standards on site, ensuring all work complies with safety protocols and the shipyard’s standards.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in CIVIL Engineering.
Minimum 3–5 years’ relevant site/construction engineering experience in shipbuilding, yacht-building, or large marine systems.
Strong working knowledge of structural steel/fibreglass fabrication, piping/mechanical systems, electrical integration in vessel construction.
Familiarity with maritime classification society requirements, marine systems installation and commissioning.
Proficiency with engineering drawings (2D/3D), preferably experience with shipyard / marine CAD tools.
Excellent organisational, problem-solving and communication skills; ability to coordinate multi-discipline teams on site.
Capable of working under pressure to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality results.
Willingness to work on-site in an industrial shipyard environment, in Abu Dhabi.
Strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.
Desirable (but not mandatory):
Experience in luxury yacht or high-end marine builds.
Knowledge of hybrid propulsion, alternative fuel systems or advanced marine systems.
Understanding of commissioning and sea trial processes for yachts.
Previous exposure to shipyard production planning, cost control or subcontractor coordination.
Certification in HSE / safety management relevant to ship-yard operations.
