Job Summary
The Site Engineer is responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities on site to ensure works are executed safely, on schedule, and in compliance with approved drawings, specifications, method statements, and quality standards. The role supports the Section Engineer by supervising manpower, coordinating subcontractors, managing site documentation, and monitoring progress to achieve project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
Drawing & Documentation Management

Review construction drawings for accuracy and clarity, ensuring only the latest issued-for-construction drawings are used on site.

Withdraw and control outdated drawings and documents.

Maintain and update site documentation including daily site diaries, reports, and records.

Prepare daily reports detailing quantities executed, workforce allocation, and work locations.
Site Supervision & Execution

Supervise on-site construction activities to ensure compliance with approved drawings, specifications, construction programs, and method statements.

Monitor work progress against the construction schedule and report delays, constraints, or trends to the Section Engineer.

Oversee the activities of foremen, trade foremen, and land surveyors to ensure effective deployment of manpower, materials, and equipment.

Coordinate and control the works of different trade subcontractors and report progress and site issues.
Quality Assurance & Inspection

Plan and conduct inspections and tests in accordance with approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).

Ensure works are complete and compliant before submission for inspection.

Initiate inspection requests and submit quality records to the Quality Engineer.

Coordinate rework or remedial actions as instructed by the Section Engineer.

Ensure only approved materials are used and that works are carried out using the latest approved drawings and documents.
Communication & Coordination

Report technical issues, site events, and progress updates to the Section Engineer.

Coordinate with the Section Engineer on equipment, manpower, and material requirements.

Coordinate with other sections and disciplines to ensure work alignment and smooth execution.

Ensure verbal instructions from engineers are clearly understood, confirmed, and documented before execution.
Safety & Compliance

Implement and comply with site safety procedures in accordance with the Project HSE Plan.

Monitor site safety conditions, report hazards or risks to the Safety Officer or Section Engineer, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.

Promote safe work practices and compliance with safety regulations at all times.
Resource & Material Management

Supervise material usage to minimize wastage and ensure proper storage and handling.

Control and record material consumption, overtime, equipment usage, and power tools.
-
Ensure adequate resources are available to maintain work progress and quality standards.
Program & Instruction Compliance

Follow daily and weekly work programs issued by the Section Engineer.

Execute instructions from the Project Construction Manager (PCM) and Project Engineer (PE) after ensuring clarity and feasibility.

Plan and schedule internal inspections for upcoming works to support timely execution.
Required Qualifications & Competencies

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent

Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in civil construction projects

Strong understanding of construction materials, methods, and site practices
-
Ability to interpret and implement design drawings, specifications, and method statements

Proficiency in construction-related computer applications such as MS Office and AutoCAD
-
Good written and spoken English communication skills
-
Strong attention to detail with good analytical and problem-solving abilities

Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced construction site environment
