VetsEZ is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) to ensure the reliability, scalability, and seamless integration of cloud-native microservices supporting Decision Precision Plus (DP+) and backend Health Service Mesh (HSM) services for federal healthcare modernization. This role will drive operational excellence, automation, and secure integration across VA EHR platforms.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available, scalable, and secure cloud-native microservices in Kubernetes and AWS environments.

Lead integration efforts for DP+, CDS Hooks, and backend services within the Health Service Mesh, ensuring interoperability with VA EHR systems (CPRS, Cerner Oracle, VistA).

Set up, configure, and manage CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins), automated deployments, and infrastructure as code.

Monitor system performance, reliability, and security using observability tools (Prometheus, Dynatrace, ELK/EFK).

Troubleshoot and resolve production issues, optimize runtime environments, and ensure compliance with federal security standards.

Implement authentication and authorization mechanisms (OAuth, JWT), policy engine integrations, and secure service design.

Collaborate with architects, developers, and stakeholders to define integration requirements and technical solutions.

Develop and maintain technical documentation, onboarding materials, and operational runbooks.

Participate in architecture reviews, sprint ceremonies, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Support developer enablement through environment documentation, test projects, and technical guidance.

Ensure data integrity, transformation, and secure handling for integrations with VistA and other clinical data sources.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field.

5+ years of experience in site reliability engineering, cloud infrastructure, and integration of enterprise systems.

Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, AWS, and cloud-native microservices.

Proficiency in CI/CD pipeline setup and management (Jenkins, Git).

Strong understanding of observability, monitoring, and logging tools.

Experience with authentication/authorization protocols (OAuth, JWT) and policy-based access control.

Familiarity with healthcare standards (FHIR, RESTful APIs) and integration with EHR systems.

Excellent troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.

U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance.
Additional Qualifications:
- Certifications in AWS, Kubernetes, or DevOps (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, CKA).

Prior experience supporting VA programs, Cerner Oracle, or federal healthcare initiatives.

Experience with infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).

Familiarity with Agile methodologies and tools (Jira, Confluence).

Experience developing onboarding packages and technical enablement materials.
