JOB SUMMARY: This position is placed in our Facilities, Maintenance & Operations Department, reporting to the Director, Facilities & Operations, leading projects and ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards. This position provides information on the proper use of equipment, identifies repairs and/or replacement needs, and performs minor to major maintenance including after hour emergency repairs. Shift hours are Monday to Friday, from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. or as needed.

THE POSITION: The job of Skilled Facilities Technician is done for the purpose/s of providing maintenance services; ensuring completion of projects in accordance with trade standards; providing information on the proper use of equipment; identifying repair and/or replacement needs; performing minor to major maintenance including emergency repairs; and assisting skilled trades. This job reports to Assigned Administrator.

TYPICAL DUTIES: Communicates using a variety of tools (e.g. email, phone, work orders, verbally, memos, two-way radios, etc.) for the purpose of coordinating activities, resolving issues and conflicts and exchanging information. Confers with immediate supervisor for the purpose of ensuring the proper and efficient maintenance and repair of buildings, facilities and grounds. Estimates materials and/or equipment needed to compete work projects for the purpose of ensuring timely completion of projects. Inspects buildings and facilities (e.g. repair work, building and grounds projects, equipment, etc.) for the purpose of determining immediate maintenance and repair needs, responding to supervisor direction, generating work orders and/or recommending removal of fire, safety or health hazards, ensuring compliance with building and safety codes. Installs a wide variety of materials (e.g. carpet, tile, roofing, cabinetry, drywall, plumbing, insulation, glass, electrical, masonry, etc.) for the purpose of providing enhancements and/or upgrades.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience: Job related experience with increasing levels of responsibility is required. Education: Targeted, job related education with study in job-related area. Equivalency: Equivalent combination of education and experience.
