Overview

United Academy of Music & Arts is seeking a highly professional and dedicated Private Music Instructor to join our dynamic team. This role involves delivering exceptional, personalized music education to students of all ages and abilities, including those with special needs. The ideal candidate will bring creativity, adaptability, and a strong commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Instruction may take place in students' homes (throughout California), online, at our Los Angeles studio (for Los Angeles area instructors). This position requires strict adherence to company policies, professionalism, and the maintenance of confidentiality at all times.

Duties

  • Develop comprehensive music lesson plans tailored to different age groups and skill levels, incorporating elements like singing, instrument playing, and music theory
  • Deliver engaging lessons that motivate students to explore their musical talents and achieve their goals
  • Manage classroom environments effectively to ensure a positive, respectful, and productive learning atmosphere
  • Provide one-on-one tutoring sessions to support individual progress and address specific learning needs
  • Incorporate diverse activities such as dance (ballet, dancing), theater, or photography to enrich the musical experience
  • Plan and execute special projects like recitals or performances that showcase student achievements
  • Utilize behavior management techniques to maintain focus and foster a supportive environment for learners of all backgrounds

Experience

  • Proven experience in teaching or coaching music in classroom settings or private lessons
  • Strong background in curriculum development across various musical genres and educational levels
  • Familiarity with classroom management strategies for diverse age groups including early childhood education and preschool experience
  • Experience working with children, special education students, or adults in educational or extracurricular settings
  • Demonstrated ability to plan lessons that incorporate childhood development principles and behavior management techniques
  • Prior involvement in performance arts like theater or ballet enhances the ability to create engaging instructional activities

  • Competitive hourly pay for teaching time, plus paid driving time and mileage reimbursement. Mileage reimbursement is paid at 72.5 cents per mile in accordance with current federal guidelines.
  • In-person lesson rate increases under the employed structure are scheduled as follows:
  • July 1, 2026 - $32.50 per hour
  • January 1, 2027 - $35.00 per hour
  • Flexible part-time hours to accommodate your schedule.
