We are seeking a motivated and skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our team! In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining small engines and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Responsibilities
- Diagnose issues with small engines such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and other outdoor power equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
- Perform repairs on engines including carburetor cleaning, spark plug replacement, oil changes, and electrical troubleshooting.
- Rebuild or replace engine components such as pistons, valves, belts, and filters to restore equipment to optimal working condition.
- Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and heavy lifting techniques to complete repairs efficiently.
- Conduct routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, blade sharpening, and system inspections to prevent future failures.
- Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot complex electrical or mechanical issues accurately.
- Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed and parts used for each piece of equipment.
- Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly and offering maintenance advice to clients.
Experience
- Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or similar role with dealership experience preferred.
- Strong mechanical knowledge of small engines as well as larger machinery such as generators or heavy equipment.
- Experience repairing diesel engines is a plus but not required.
- Familiarity with automotive repair principles and electrical systems related to small engines.
- Hands-on experience with vehicle maintenance tools including hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering devices, and heavy lifting techniques.
- Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
- Knowledge of Caterpillar or other heavy machinery brands is a plus but not required.
