Small Engine Mechanic

Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Small Engine Mechanic to join our team! Responsibilities

• Diagnose issues with small engines such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and other outdoor power equipment using schematics and technical manuals.
• Perform repairs on engines including carburetor cleaning, spark plug replacement, oil changes, and electrical troubleshooting.
• Rebuild or replace engine components such as pistons, valves, belts, and filters to restore equipment to optimal working condition.
• Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering irons, and heavy lifting techniques to complete repairs efficiently.
• Conduct routine maintenance tasks like oil changes, blade sharpening, and system inspections to prevent future failures.
• Interpret schematics and technical diagrams to troubleshoot complex electrical or mechanical issues accurately.
• Maintain detailed service records of repairs performed and parts used for each piece of equipment.
• Provide excellent customer service by explaining repairs clearly and offering maintenance advice to clients.

Experience

• Proven experience as a Small Engine Mechanic or similar role with dealership experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of small engines as well as larger machinery such as generators or heavy equipment.
• Experience repairing diesel engines is a plus but not required.
• Familiarity with automotive repair principles and electrical systems related to small engines.
• Hands-on experience with vehicle maintenance tools including hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, soldering devices, and heavy lifting techniques.
• Ability to read schematics and technical manuals accurately for troubleshooting purposes.
• Knowledge of Caterpillar or other heavy machinery brands is a plus but not required.
