JOB OVERVIEW

JOB TITLE : Smart City Industry Expert

LOCATION : Doha, Qatar

The Smart City Industry Expert provides subject matter expertise and strategic guidance on smart city technologies, digital transformation, and urban innovation.

The role ensures that initiatives, products, and services align with global smart city best practices, emerging technologies, and industry trends.

This role acts as the advisor and bridge between business, technology, government stakeholders, and delivery teams to ensure smart city solutions deliver real value and measurable impact.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Industry Expertise & Advisory

Provide expert guidance on smart city technologies, frameworks, and trends.

• Support the definition of smart city strategies, roadmaps, and use cases.
• Ensure alignment with international standards and best practices.
• Identify innovation opportunities and emerging technologies.

Use Case & Solution Development

Support ideation and design of smart city initiatives and services.

• Validate feasibility, value, and impact of proposed solutions.
• Contribute to business cases and investment proposals.
• Ensure solutions align with citizen experience and urban outcomes.

Stakeholder Engagement

Engage with government entities, partners, and technology vendors.

• Participate in workshops, committees, and industry forums.
• Support knowledge transfer and awareness initiatives.

Market & Technology Research

Monitor global smart city trends and benchmark leading cities.

• Provide research, insights, and recommendations to leadership.
• Support innovation and continuous improvement initiatives.

Governance & Standards

Promote best practices in data, interoperability, security, and sustainability.

• Support development of policies, frameworks, and guidelines.

POTENTIAL BACKGROUND

Education:

· Bachelor’s or Master’s in Engineering, Urban Planning, Information Technology, or related field.

Experience:

· 10+ years in smart city, digital transformation, or technology consulting roles

· Experience working with government or large-scale transformation programs

Preferred Certifications:

· Smart City / IoT / Digital Transformation certifications (advantage)

· PMP or Agile certification (nice to have)

Typical Previous Roles:
Smart City Consultant, Digital Transformation Lead, Urban Innovation Manager, Technology Strategy Consultant.
