Social Emotional Programming Assistant

Summary:

We are seeking a Social Emotional Programming Assistant to join our team at Monarch Learning Academy. In this role, you will deliver high-quality social-emotional learning (SEL) curriculum, facilitate character development programs, and lead afterschool SEL initiatives. The ideal candidate is passionate about student well-being, skilled at building relationships with young learners, and confident adapting lessons and activities to meet the diverse and evolving needs of individual students.

Responsibilities:

Social-Emotional Curriculum Instruction (K–8):

▪ Teach structured social-emotional learning lessons aligned to established SEL standards across Kindergarten through Grade 8 grade bands.

▪ Develop and deliver developmentally appropriate SEL content across multiple grade levels, differentiating instruction to meet the cognitive, emotional, and social developmental stages of each age group.

▪ Integrate evidence-based strategies to support students in developing self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making. Respond compassionately to students experience social-emotional challenges, implementing trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices.

▪ Collaborate with classroom teachers and instructional staff to align SEL programming with academic goals and classroom community expectations.

Afterschool Social-Emotional Programming:

▪ Support the execution of afterschool SEL programming as designed and directed by the Director of Whole Child Support, ensuring sessions are implemented consistently, faithfully, and with high engagement for K–8 students.

▪ Assist the Director of Whole Child Support in facilitating and running student clubs, taking a hands-on role in executing club activities, managing student participation, and ensuring a positive and structured experience for all involved.

▪ Maintain a safe, welcoming, and inclusive afterschool environment that promotes belonging and positive peer relationships.

▪ Track student attendance, participation, and progress within afterschool programming and communicate regularly with families and school staff.

Character Traits Programming:

▪ Implement and lead a school-wide character traits initiative, including developing and deliverying lessons, assemblies, activities and projects.

▪ Foster a culture of positive character by modeling exemplary behavior and creating opportunities for students to practice and reflect on character traits in read-world contexts.

▪ Partner with families and community members to reinforce character development beyond the school setting.

Requirements:

  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Psychology, Social Work, Child Development, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Demonstrated understanding of social-emotional learning standards
  • Experience working with children and/oradolescents in a school, afterschool, camp, or community setting
  • Strong classroom management and group facilitation skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise soun professional judgement
  • A clear commitment to Christian faith and integration of Biblical principles in education

Pay: $38,000.00 - $45,000.00 per year
