What you will be doing
As the Growth Intern, you are Zanderio’s presence in the external communities where ecommerce founders and store owners congregate outside of the WordPress ecosystem. Your channels include Reddit, LinkedIn, Facebook Groups, Discord, Alignable, and Bluesky.
Intent in these communities is lower than in WordPress forums — merchants here are often defining their problem rather than actively searching for a solution. Your role is early-stage: building Zanderio’s presence before merchants know they are looking, and capturing intelligence about real merchant problems before they become support tickets.
You also own the Customer Insights intersection — the feedback loop between what you hear in external communities and what the Community Intern hears in WordPress forums. Together, those two signal sources tell Shumaila what merchants actually need versus what Zanderio currently says it does. That intelligence directly shapes messaging and content strategy.

Day-to-day responsibilities
Reddit community participation
- Monitor and participate in r/WooCommerce, r/ecommerce, and related subreddits
- Respond to threads about conversion, customer chat, sales automation, and product recommendations
- Lead with value — provide a genuinely useful answer or perspective before any mention of Zanderio
- Understand subreddit rules on self-promotion before posting — each subreddit has different thresholds and violation results in bans that are difficult to recover from
- Share Zanderio’s merchant success stories in threads where they are directly relevant
LinkedIn presence
- Maintain a consistent content cadence on LinkedIn about AI in ecommerce, WooCommerce conversion, and merchant success
- Write posts in a first-person, peer-to-peer tone — not brand voice. Posts that start with a specific merchant problem outperform those that lead with the product
- Engage with comments on posts and in relevant discussion threads under other creators’ content
- Share mini case studies from Zanderio’s live deployments when merchants give permission
Facebook Groups and Discord
- Join and actively participate in WooCommerce and ecommerce founder Facebook Groups
- Engage in comment threads on posts about conversion challenges, AI tools, and ecommerce growth
- Join relevant Discord and Slack communities (WooCommerce, ecommerce, Shopify-adjacent) and participate daily rather than dropping in to promote
- In real-time channels, relationship consistency is the asset — your presence needs to be regular enough that other members recognise you
Alignable and Bluesky
- Maintain Zanderio’s presence on Alignable, which reaches local business owners who may be running WooCommerce stores without deep technical knowledge
- Zanderio’s zero-configuration value proposition is particularly well suited to this audience — lead with ease of setup, not AI complexity
- Maintain activity on Bluesky as the platform continues to grow within the tech and founder community
Customer insights and intelligence capture
- Maintain a shared log of recurring merchant complaints, objections, and feature requests heard across all external channels
- Document the exact language merchants use when describing their problems — verbatim phrasing is more valuable than a summary
- Cross-reference your findings weekly with the Community Intern’s forum observations to identify validated patterns
- Flag high-signal insights to Shumaila immediately — do not wait for the weekly sync if something appears repeatedly across multiple platforms in the same week
Customer insights intersection ownership
- You own the Customer Insights intersection: the loop between external communities and the WordPress Community channel
- When you identify a recurring objection or complaint in external channels, you verify with the Community Intern whether the same complaint surfaces in WordPress forums
- When external community framing of a problem differs from WordPress forum framing, you document the difference — that gap is a messaging opportunity
- Validated insights go to Shumaila as messaging briefs, not just content briefs — they shape how Zanderio describes itself, not just what articles it publishes

Skills and qualities
- Comfortable operating across multiple platforms simultaneously without losing track of context or community norms
- Strong written English with an ability to adapt tone — Reddit requires directness and scepticism-resistance, LinkedIn requires narrative, Discord requires conversational brevity
- Genuinely curious about merchant problems — you are interested in understanding why a store owner is struggling, not just finding an opening to mention the product
- Disciplined about documentation — the intelligence you capture is only as valuable as the consistency with which you record it
- Community-literate — you understand the unwritten norms of online communities and know when you are crossing the line from helpful to promotional
- Self-directed — external community work requires initiative. No one will tell you which thread to reply to today

Bonus experience
- Active personal presence in any of the target communities (Reddit, LinkedIn, Discord) — you already understand the culture
- Familiarity with ecommerce or WooCommerce as a user or store owner
- Experience with social listening or community intelligence tools
- Background in growth, marketing, or community management, even informally
- Understanding of how AI chat or sales tools work in a merchant context

Your intersection in the growth engine
You own the Customer Insights intersection — the overlap between the External Communities channel and the WordPress Community channel. This intersection is not primarily a traffic channel. It is Zanderio’s intelligence channel.
At full operation, your work produces: validated merchant problems that drive Shumaila’s content strategy, refined messaging that closes the gap between how Zanderio describes itself and how merchants describe their problems, and an early warning system for product gaps that surfaces before they become retention issues.
