Ruby and Millie is a New York City-based beauty brand on a mission to make great beauty accessible to everyone. The brand has built a loyal following through retail partnerships in TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and more. This year, we're expanding into e-commerce and social media, bringing Ruby & Millie directly to beauty lovers online. We specialize in high-quality 'inspired-by' beauty products at mass-market price points. We believe you shouldn't have to choose between quality and affordability and our customers agree.

Role Overview

We're looking for a Social Media Manager to build Ruby & Millie’s social presence and creator engine from the ground up across TikTok and Instagram. This is a hands-on, multi-hat role: you’ll create the content, run the day-to-day channels and build creator/influencer partnerships. The right candidate will have a strong point of view on what good looks like and knows how to create content that earns attention, builds brand love, and makes the community feel excited to share.

You’ll report to the CMO and work in proximity to the retail/wholesale team. Our social accounts currently sits at ~21,000 followers, and this is an opportunity to help build something significant from an early stage.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Planning: Build campaign calendars and weekly plans that align with business goals.
  • Own Content Creation end-to-end: concepting, filming or briefing, editing and publishing.
  • Visual Direction for Social: Create content which is beautifully designed, platform native and aligns with our brand values.
  • Creator & Partnerships Strategy: Own the UGC, affiliate, and influencer partnerships across TikTok and Instagram; source and brief creators, manage relationships and ensure high quality content is published on our feeds and creator accounts.
  • Organic Community Building: Foster connections and sense of belonging through community-first content and proactive interaction.
  • Storytelling x Entertainment: You love storytelling on social media → turning product features and benefits into entertaining content that customers feel excited about.

Required Skills

  • Experience: 2+ years of hands-on social media and/or creator partnerships experience, ideally at a beauty or DTC consumer brand.
  • Platform fluency: Strong understanding of Instagram and TikTok’s purpose, audience, algorithm, and analytics.
  • Editing + creative execution: Experience editing short-form content and carousels that looks beautiful, captures attention, and matches the brand voice.
  • Trend instincts: Can spot emerging trends early and move quickly.
  • Creator economy knowledge: Strong understanding of brand/creator relationship dynamics and the priorities for each side.
  • Growth track record (preferred): Experience building a social media account to 50K+ followers.

Compensation & Contract Details

  • Compensation: $75,000/year pro-rata
  • Contract: 1099 / 6-month contract (with the possibility to extend)
  • Hours: 40 hours/week

Location and Working Hours

  • In-office: 2 days per week, 9am–5pm, NYC
  • Daily core hours: Monday–Friday, 10am–12pm (full team online)
  • Remaining hours: Flexible
  • Events: 1–2 brand events per month in NYC may be required
