Social Media & Marketing Intern

Location: Utah County, Utah | Remote /Hybrid

Position: Paid internship ($13/hour), 10-20 hours/week roughly ~12weeks or from May 1 – August 1 (flexible based on availability). Available time off for summer holidays and personal/sick time.

About Us: The Plains is a film production company focused on telling meaningful, story-driven films. We recently released our first full-length documentary, which launched in local theaters and is now available on streaming platforms like Amazon and Apple TV, with plans to release and sell DVDs and Blu-rays soon.

As we continue to promote the film and expand our company’s presence, we’re looking to grow our social media in a more intentional and creative way—both for the documentary and for The Plains as a brand and company.

About the Role: We’re looking for a Social Media & Marketing Intern to work closely with our Business Operations Manager to help sustain and grow our social presence across multiple platforms.

You’ll be working on two main accounts:

  • Our documentary film account (ongoing promotion + engagement)
  • The Plains company account (building our brand and portfolio presence)

This is a collaborative role—we’re not expecting you to have everything figured out. We’re building this together. You’ll receive guidance, but you’ll also have room to bring your own ideas and creativity to the table.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Edit and create short-form video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok, etc.)
  • Repurpose existing footage into engaging social media posts
  • Write captions and assist with posting/scheduling content
  • Monitor comments, messages, and basic community engagement
  • Help develop content ideas and simple content calendars
  • Assist in building the visual style and voice for The Plains’ social media
  • Capture behind-the-scenes (BTS) content on select shoot days
  • Track basic performance metrics and help identify what’s working

What We’re Looking for:

  • Familiarity with Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook (personal or professional use counts!)
  • Experience with video editing tools (CapCut, Adobe Premiere, or equivalent)
  • Basic design skills in Figma, or similar application
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Creative, proactive, and comfortable sharing ideas
  • Ability to work independently and manage time well
  • BONUS
  • Experience with Meta Ads and social media analytics
  • Familiarity with Notion, particularly for building and maintaining process documentation such as step-by-step SOPs, how-to guides, or internal knowledge bases

What you get in return/Benefits: Hands-on experience managing and growing social media accounts within a film production environment, while building a strong portfolio of real, published work. You’ll have weekly one-on-one check-ins with your manager (in-person or virtual—your choice!) and opportunities to be involved on set when applicable. This includes assisting with production tasks like location setup, supporting shoots, and interacting with clients, talent, and crew—giving you a well-rounded look at the media production industry.

To Apply: Please email your resume, a brief intro about yourself and why you're interested, and any relevant work samples or links to social content you've created (personal projects, club accounts, and class work all count!) to .

Pay: $13.00 per hour
