Social Media & Video Content Assistant (Part-Time, San Diego)

ABOUT US:

Destination Baby Co. is a fast-growing, family-focused company based in San Diego. We provide baby gear rentals for traveling families, helping parents enjoy their trips without the hassle of bringing bulky gear.

In addition to our rental services, we’re also building The Family Feed, a content platform focused on practical tools, recommendations, and real-talk insights for parents.

We’re also preparing to launch a new sector of the business focused on premium family convenience experiences in hotels and major attractions.

We’re looking for a Social Media & Video Content Assistant who loves short-form video and wants real-world experience creating content and supporting the growth of a modern family brand.

You’ll work directly with the founder and help build content, marketing campaigns, and digital visibility across multiple brand initiatives.

ROLE OVERVIEW:

You’ll take raw video clips and turn them into daily short-form content across:

  • TikTok
  • Instagram Reels
  • YouTube Shorts
  • LinkedIn (short clips)

You’ll handle editing, captions, scheduling, and light engagement so the brand shows up consistently across platforms.

You’ll also support marketing efforts tied to new brand initiatives and upcoming product launches.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Video Editing (Primary – ~60%)

  • Edit videos for TikTok, Reels, YouTube Shorts, and LinkedIn
  • Add captions/subtitles, text overlays, and transitions
  • Repurpose one clip into multiple versions tailored to each platform
  • Identify opportunities to turn longer recordings into multiple short clips

Scheduling & Organization (~20%)

  • Upload and schedule posts using tools like Later, Buffer, or Meta Business Suite
  • Maintain a simple content calendar (what’s posted, what’s scheduled, what’s in the queue)
  • Keep raw and edited footage organized in clearly labeled folders

Captions, Hashtags & Engagement (~20%)

  • Write clear, on-brand captions with strong hooks and CTAs
  • Choose relevant hashtags (with help from AI tools where useful)
  • Monitor comments after posting and respond using simple guidelines
  • Flag anything important or time-sensitive

Marketing & Launch Support

  • Assist with social media promotion for new initiatives and launches
  • Help brainstorm marketing ideas, content angles, and campaigns
  • Support the rollout of new brand experiences through digital channels

REQUIREMENTS:

Must-Haves

  • Experience editing short-form video for TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts
  • Proficiency in at least one editing tool:
  • CapCut
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Final Cut
  • or a strong mobile editor
  • Portfolio or examples of your video work (personal, school, freelance, or client projects)
  • Basic experience posting or scheduling content for a social media account
  • Comfortable using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude) to help with hooks, captions, and ideas
  • Strong attention to detail, organization, and deadlines
  • Reliable, communicative, and able to commit 12–20 hours per week
  • We are looking for someone interested in building with the company long-term as the brand and marketing initiatives expand.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Familiarity with TikTok/Reels/Shorts trends and sounds
  • Interest in parenting, family life, or entrepreneurship content
  • Experience managing your own social media or a small brand account
  • Basic understanding of social media analytics
  • Experience filming short-form video on an iPhone or helping capture content in person is a plus.

SCHEDULE & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Hours: 12–20 hours per week
Schedule: Flexible, as long as deadlines are met and content is ready in advance

Location: Majority remote. Must be located in San Diego for occasional in-person meetings and content creation.

Most work is asynchronous; we’ll align via weekly check-ins and shared tools.
