Social Media Video Editor (Freelance/Contract)

The Partnership Opportunity

Aces and Oak is looking for a highly skilled Social Media Video Editor to partner with us as an independent contractor. You'll be responsible for editing raw, professionally-shot S-Log3 footage into polished, high-engagement short-form video content for our client social media channels.

This is a hands-on editing role focused on flawless execution and brand consistency across multiple client accounts. We're looking for an editor who lives and breathes social-first content. Not someone whose background is primarily in films, long-form video, or commercial work.

Core Responsibilities

1. Video Editing: Editing raw Sony S-Log3 footage into polished, high-engagement short-form video for social media. This includes pacing, transitions, audio syncing, on-screen text styling, and final export for social platforms (Instagram, TikTok, YouTube Shorts).

2. Colour Grading with Our LUT System: Applying our proprietary LUT pack to raw S-Log3 footage and making clip-by-clip adjustments where necessary (exposure, white balance, contrast, saturation). We provide our internal LUT Guidelines and ongoing support, but candidates must already be comfortable working with raw log footage and have a strong eye for colouring.

3. Brand Adherence Across Every Client: Every edit must follow each client's brand guidelines, including their specific colour palette, fonts, typography styles, on-screen text treatments, and overall visual style. We provide detailed brand guidelines and reference content for every client account, but the editor must have the eye and attention to detail to apply these consistently across every video.

4. Social-First Editing Style: Your editing instincts must be tuned for short-form social content — punchy pacing, scroll-stopping opening frames, audio-driven cuts, dynamic text overlays, and well-placed b-roll.

Required Skills & Experience

• Demonstrable experience editing raw S-Log3 (or other professional log) footage
• Strong working knowledge of CapCut Desktop (our primary platform), DaVinci Resolve, or an equivalent
• Comfortable applying custom .cube LUTs and making clip-by-clip adjustments
• Proven track record producing short-form social video that performs (Reels, TikToks, Shorts)
• Strong sense of pacing, rhythm, and audio-driven editing, including selecting music that aligns with the client’s brand while staying current with trends.
• Strong audio post-production skills, including dialogue enhancement, noise reduction, audio cleanup, and mixing to ensure clear, polished, and professional sound quality.
• Ability to follow and execute brand guidelines (colours, fonts, typography, style) consistently across multiple client accounts
• Reliable turnaround on multiple client deliverables per week
• Unlimited revisions included in the agreed deliverable scope
• Self-directed, organized, and responsive to feedback

Compensation Structure

We pay our freelance editors on a project-based, monthly schedule — not hourly.

Compensation is determined by:

• Number of videos delivered each month

Payment is issued monthly at the end of each service period, based on completed and approved deliverables for the month. This structure rewards efficient, high-quality work and gives our contractors clarity on what they're earning before each month begins.

We do not pay hourly, and we do not bill our clients on an hourly basis. This is a flat-rate, deliverable-driven partnership.

Contractor Requirements

• Contractor is responsible for providing their own software, including all licenses and subscriptions for editing tools (CapCut Desktop or equivalent required)
• Contractor must have a computer capable of editing high-resolution raw S-Log3 footage smoothly
• Initial service period is a 1-month contract, with the intention to extend if the work meets our standards
• Contractors will be required to sign a Service Agreement

• A minimum of 5 short-form social media videos you have personally edited (Reels, TikToks, or Shorts)
• At least 3 examples must demonstrate your work with raw S-Log3 footage (before/after preferred, or a brief note describing your role in the colour grade and edit)
• At least 2 examples must demonstrate your ability to follow a specific brand's visual identity (consistent colours, fonts, and styling across multiple videos for the same client or brand)

Applications without work samples will be automatically declined. Your cover letter should briefly describe your editing background, your experience with log footage, and the software you currently use.
