Education and Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work or a related human services field (e.g., Sociology, Gerontology, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Psychology).
Experience:
- At least 1 year of supervised social work experience in a healthcare setting, working directly with individuals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide care that is appropriate and tailored to the age-related needs of residents.
- Make independent decisions when necessary and act in the best interests of residents.
- Foster teamwork and cooperation among staff, promoting a positive and collaborative team culture.
- Communicate effectively with residents, families, visitors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Lead, supervise, and support other personnel with patience, tact, and a cheerful disposition.
- Incorporate new methods and principles into social services to enhance resident care.
- Maintain compliance with state or national licensing and accrediting bodies.
- Share relevant resident information with appropriate personnel as needed.
Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
- Ability to handle stress and manage emotionally challenging situations.
- Ability to work effectively with ill, disabled, elderly, or emotionally upset individuals.
- Ability to relate to residents at varying cognitive and emotional levels.
- Demonstrate leadership, initiative, and personal integrity in interactions with residents and staff.
Physical and Sensory Requirements:
- Ability to move throughout the facility and lift, push, or pull up to 25 pounds.
- Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- Ability to meet health requirements, including passing a physical and medical exam.
- Ability to assist in emergency evacuations when necessary.
Additional Requirements:
- Valid state or national license preferred but not required.
- Must not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of others in the workplace.
